haha, i've eaten rabbit.

i even ate one that we killed in survival school by breaking its neck.

i just didn't notice that Tim made the thread...I thought he was arguing that you shouldn't kill rabbits, and should just buy the meat. I was implying that such a position is retarded and completely illogical.

"on a related note, how much is rabbit meat at the Farmer's Market?"

I believe it was around $8 per lb. Or maybe that was the frozen rabbit I've seen at Harris Teeter.

Last year my roomate and I slaughtered the squirrels around our house for a squirrel stew. 17 squirrels worth of fucking NOM.

We tried to get some rabbits but never succeeded.

"If I am not mistaken, you do not need a license to kill a rabbit as long as it is on your own property, or you are an invited guest on someone else's property."

you are mistaken. the only hunting exemption is "A landowner or person leasing land primarily for cultivation, their spouse, and dependents under 18 residing with them, may hunt, trap and fish on such land without a license."

and rabbit season ended on Feb 28

and the answers to questions like this can all be found at http://www.ncwildlife.org

with that said, kill it and eat it. just don't eat rabbits you kill in the summertime. the meat gets this nasty shit in it or something. i forgot what they call it.

further googling says it's tularemia and/or the fact that they carry a lot more parasites in the warmer months

also, it's a law that you have written permission to hunt private land that isn't your own, so if you didn't need a hunting license to hunt on private land where you were invited to hunt, about 99% of hunters in NC would not have to buy a hunting license.

I'm guessing farm raised rabbits don't tend to have these parasites?
