If you ever get a rx by mail, that bitch is counted by a robot.. everythings automated when it comes to mail order.. and actually whoever said that the average script chain pharmacies fill 400-500 on the low end is crazy.. i work across from wake med in one of the busiest pharmacies in the area and thats how much we can physically put out.. we'll leave and still have 10 pages in the computer of like 20 rx per page if were lucky.. back home in charlotte i worked at a store that was lucky to reach 100 rx's per day and on the weekend 25 rxs.. the one in charlotte that i work at now when im home avg. 300 and hit 400 a couple times a month.. but is rare.. but only the busiest stores in the area reach an average of 500/day.. also people make mistakes all the time.. im suprised more people dont die or overdose.. rx's are constantly given to the wrong person and quantity are sometimes miscounted like last night one of older slower pharmacist verified an rx out that had a quanity of 5 Viagra instead of 30.. that guy paid $500 for 5 pills when it should of been 30.. guess what he came right back and we gave him 25 more pills.. and he left happier than ever so its not that big of a deal.. so get over it.. go back to the pharmacy and just give the 3 pills back if it bothers you that much

In the future, doctor logs on to persons medical records, sees what they are taking, makes prescription. Computer throws up alerts about any possible drug interactions. Computer gets order, counts pills, ships itMiddle man not needed. Pharmacists are going to have to do more to justify their existence. Like many other jobs, what was once elite is getting commoditized.

i tried to get a prescription filled for some vitamin d supplements and they accidentally filled a double prescription for anti-depressants.whoops.

The bad thing is that doctors don't catch their own mistakes. I was a tech for 3 years and date a pharmacist now. It is not uncommon for a doctor to write a script that has wrong dosage, med, quantity, or that completely contradicts a previous script. Complicating the situation is the fact that most MDs write like 2 year olds with jumbo pencils so deciphering their communication is a job in itself and you have MD shoppers that visit 5 doctors a week. Many doctors also become annoyed or defensive when you call to verify their intention. They went to school for ten years so they are never wrong. For the arguments that computer programs should do the job of finding contraindications, they do its called a dur system. However these computer programs aren't sophisticated enough to actually make the decision of whether the contraindication is going to kill you, hurt you, or just give you gas. That's what pharmacists are for. Is a misfill forgivable? Absolutely not. But it is not as simple as putting a hamburger in a bag. When you see your CVS pharmacist just know that they are probably filling between 200-400 scripts a day (board of pharmacy says that they are not to fill more than 150 but cvs decides to violate this rule), they do not get lunch breaks, their hours were probably just cut because of the recession, and they really do care about your health (often more than your doctor). You got three extra pills. Good for you. STFU. All of that said there are lazy and careless pharmacists and techs out there. Just like there are shitty bricklayers, policemen, firemen, financial advisors, cooks, and doctors. They suck, they should be fired. My point, cut your pharmacist a little slack he/she probably had a harder day than you even if you are sick or your back hurts.

^^ after saying all that BS you are going to attack me for having chronic neck pain due to repeated concussions? Suck my fucking dick bitch. If CVS can't handle counting 6 pills they need to be shut down and any pharmacist with your attitude would be reported.[Edited on March 27, 2010 at 5:34 PM. Reason : ,]

1. I'm not a pharmacist. Did not claim to be. So feel free to report me for having a bad attitude to the Board of Pharmacy so they can take away the licence that I don't have.2. I didn't attack you for having cronic neck pain. I am very sorry that you have neck pain. 3. CVS did count your 6 pills. They just then counted 3 more. At least they didn't count 3 less.Good luck with your pain. Hope that you find some relief and all of your scripts are right from now on.
