it's almost like you guys didn't realize you've been able to forward ncsu email to gmail for years now.

yeah our problem is being able to change the server, it reverts back to a .ncsu.edu server every time.

[Edited on April 3, 2010 at 4:26 PM. Reason : It is connecting me to random unity id's ncsu mail servers whenever i delete and remake the account]

it's almost like you didn't even read the thread. I've been doing that for years. But now that ncsu webmail = gmail, I'd like to condense my accounts to the one, new ncsu gmail account. Unfortunately, ncsu gmail is not being pushed to BBs for some reason

yep; mine just reverts to wdprice.mail.ncsu.edu. if I change it, it requires my password, which it says it doesn't recognize

no, you couldn't. webmail != gmail then. it does now.

i wish I could straight up merge my ncsu mail with my gmail account.

my phone syncs with my normal google account as it's an android. my gmail app syncs only with that account. the email app is having troubles connecting to my ncsu.edu account for whatever reason. i tried syncing my password on that link, and if that doesn't start working by later tonight i'm gonna try changing my password again.

"Hello,
You must change your Unity password if you plan on accessing your Google account from anything other than a web browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome). This means that (for example) if you want to use the Gmail app on your iPhone or use Thunderbird, you ll receive connection errors unless you change your password.

Just go to the password reset page (http://www.ncsu.edu/password) and change your password once. By doing this, you will activate the ability of your new Google account to allow access from your mobile device or desktop application. This only ever has to be done once for your Google account (though as a reminder, you are required to change your password at least once a year for security reasons).

Once you change your password, then verify you have taken the proper configuration steps listed on the site below to complete your setup:

Worked for me after I reset my password... I didnt have to change it, I just reentered the password that I am already using.

It took about 30 min after I reset my password for everything to sync up. Hope this helps.

You could just set up e-mail forwarding.

What version of Android does your device run? Android supports multiple accounts as of 2.0.

^don't they close that email eventually? idk for sure.

I'm still stuck on the same issue - mail server keeps changing back to unityid.mail.ncsu.edu and whenever I change it to imap.gmail.com it says it con't log onto the server.

EDIT: I just changed my username to include @ncsu.edu and it looks like it went through and kept imap.gmail.com hopefully this will work...

well, holy shit. it finally worked. it's not loading previous emails, but it is receiving emails sent after I set it up (again).

yeah, but that's fine. i guess what i'm saying is the only difference i see is having "ncsu" in my email address instead of just @gmail.com

^^well, I'm not sure if all of these steps mattered... but I did them and it works:

1. delete any existing ncsu gmail account on BB
2. reset unity p/w (like 3 damn times )
3. open BB email setup and enter your email address (NO PASSWORD); hit ok
4. it will give you an error since there was no p/w, but it should give you a link that says "provide more information" - click it
5. enter your email (if needed again), unity p/w, server = imap.gmail.com; name, and username = unityid@ncsu.edu

that should do it...

^if you don't care to have access to ncsu email for life, then there is no reason to do it

It eventually set email fowarding up properly, just wasn't working for the first 24 hours properly.

Right now I have 1.5 on my Backflip. We're supposed to get 2.1 by the end of June, hopefully sooner than later.
