my climbing tree was SO awesome. my dad put 2 steps on it so it was easier to get up the trunk into the branches.

it had this amazing branch that stuck out that i used to sit on and jump off of

then this STUPID BOY that rode my bus broke off the branch cause he was fat and went on it and i cried for like 5 weeks.

ugh.

I mean sure, that's fine for us and all...but it's just the whole concept of it. When I was babysitting the 10 year old over Easter break, she had a scheduled date and time to play w/ her friend that lives 3 doors down. A schedule? Really? What the hell happened to just rolling up on your bike, knocking on the door and seeing if Suzy can come out to play? I've been told it was "times are different" but then I asked my BIL's gf who babysits in our hometown if they have playdates and she said they didn't--they did the traditional knock on the door. So I think this playdate thing is in more urban areas than rural.

Going out in the boat mostly. Setting pound nets with my dad, shrimping, crabbing, oystering, clamming, etc.

The sun setting on the sound from the banks, with the water dead slick cam.

That's what I miss the most.

going deep sea fishing on our old boat... also dangling my legs off the front of the boat and dolphins coming up (touched them a few times when sitting on the plank we had on the front of our boat)

climbing our old dog wood tree

pushing the trampoline up to our old pool (our mom did not like this)

skipping 3rd and 4th period with my bff to go to the beach instead (but our moms would call and check us out so the school couldn't stop us)

finding turtles and snakes near the pond at our old Newport house

cooking up crawdads with my grandpa

I miss slip n slide and wall ball.

I miss taking naps on the couch on our front porch.

I miss swimming in the kiddie pool in out front yard.

I miss sitting in our front yard on freshman move in day with a sign that said "You honk, we drink."

I miss grilling at 3am.

I miss our homemade kegerator.

I miss waking up at noon.

I miss being able to get wasted at the bar with only a $20.

I miss regular nintendo.

I miss cable before digital when a simple black box unlocked the Spice Channel.

I miss having a pager.

I miss Napster.

I miss paying $300 in rent as opposed to an $1800 mortgage.

I miss when you had off for snow days.

I miss the feeling of the last day of the school year.

I miss the smell in the air that smelled like little league practice.

I miss the days in grade school when having a girlfriend meant you never made eye contact and you never talked.

I miss the feeling of being young and just starting to date someone and you stay on the phone and talk about nothing all night.

I miss when gas was 95 cents a gallon.

I miss living on ramen noodles and easy mac.

I miss the smell of a random girl's shampoo smell on you pillow after she spends the night.

I miss living with my friends.

I miss random road trips to random places for no reason at all.

I miss feeling that I thought I had a great future in front of me instead of this stale, dead-end, joyless life I have now.

Damn... being an adult fucking sucks.

"I miss the giant front porch at the house my senior year at Elon that we set up the hammock on about this time of year. I loved being able to spend a Saturday afternoon with a book and a pillow in the hammock and then fall asleep in it. Sometimes the train would come by on the tracks right in front of our house and wake me up, but I got used to the house shaking and it was kind of comforting."

MrsCake i went to elon and lived in hook.....you definitely get used to the train going by and shaking everything but the first few nights i was like
