my best guess is it was an unfortunate confluence of posts by egyeyes, MitsuMtnASU, zorthage and BigMan157 and it race conditioned itself. when the chatterbox history on the homepage tried to load the chatterbox history it erased the whole thing, but didn't know how to reset itself
