what i'm saying is that i don't think that if i had a long lost sister and met her WITHOUT KNOWING THAT SHE WAS MY SISTER that i would somehow know to not be attracted to her. i'm actually quite sure that's not possible. so what i'm saying is that i am willing to accept that long lost relatives may have a sexual attraction. what i'm not willing to accept is that this dude wants to have sex w/ a 72 year old woman. that's disgusting.

that'd clearly be a really weird scenario, but one that i wouldn't necessarily call someone disgusting for b/c like i said, how would they know? granted this is different, but i still find it more justifiable than the old lady part. to him she's just any old lady... who happens to be his biological grandmother.

whereas there's never been a real taboo against fucking old women...it's probably regarded by most cultures as disgusting, but not as an actual offense against nature

apparently the internet has inured me to everything. Despite this being obviously wrong on a basic level (we're genetically predisposed to evoid incest even outside of cultural taboos), it in no way grosses me out.

I mean, I've seen videos of two 70+ year old people fucking. Hell there is probably a video of them shitting on each other.

^^^ he's not right though. that's a predisposition to avoid reproducing with people that you grew up with, it has nothing to do with biological incest. i would (and am) argue that it's not possible to have a genetic predisposition to not be attracted to people that you are unaware that you are related to biologically based on the fact that you are unaware of it.

What i was saying is that there is a genetic predisposition to avoid incest. By that, I mean that those that you relate to as "family" are genetically set apart from those that you find sexually attractive. Sure, if you don't know someone is your sister, then there is some reasonable assumption that you could be initially attracted to her. However, it is ingrained in our psyche that once you know that the person is your sister, the sexual attraction should change.

I mean, shit, I have met cousins (who i did not know were cousins at first) who i thought were hot as fuck. As soon as i realized that they were related to me, I still recognized that they were attractive people, but i no longer had a sexual attraction to them.

The second half of that is an example of the cultural taboo, but at the same time i didn't need someone to tell me that it was wrong to be sexually attracted to my cousin. I knew somehow.
