I don't usually say "keep our drinks filled and you'll get a great tip" although I've probably done that once or twice if a place is really crowded

Usually if you are just nice and patient with them early on, they'll WANT to come to your table more than others

If they think you've got a table full of bitches and assholes from the get go, you're gonna be in for a long night

thumper - my server last night was ok/fine. nothing spectacular.

katiencbabe - yes, I have. I've done everything in a restaurant/bar except cook & run the cash register. And this is why I know my standards for servers and why I have them. I also tip accordingly. I have high expectations and thus should a server meet them, they get a generous tip.

And I'm not saying that I'm an ass/impatient towards a server that fails expectations, I'm almost always courteous, with the exception of a server truly deserving to be treated less so. Mainly I just act/speak/appear less than satisfied and I show it in the tip, when necessary.

Yeh. The Saucer girls for the most part are average to really good. I don't hate them at all. And as far as previous comments on servers' dress and customer interaction, no, no one really deserves to get hit on/touched/etc because of the way the dress, but dressing in such a manner is going to guarantee customers hitting on you... so get used to it. reality versus wishful thinking.... live in reality.

Kitchen fucks up just as much as the wait/bar staff IF NOT MORE. When you ask the waitress to hold the blue cheese crumbles on your salad and you still get them on there...half the time it's the server's fault for not putting that on the ticket and the other half the time it's the kitchen's fault for not reading the ticket or for forgetting that it's on there. I don't think you people know how fucking retarded most people in the kitchen are. Much dumber than you THINK your server is. On a kitchen staff with about 10 or 12 people, there are maybe 2 that could squeak through a mediocre 4 year university.

That's actually a pretty good reason why it was regular price. It was definitely the server's fault for not telling him that sugar free would be extra. At the same time, she probably knew she wasn't going to get a decent tip once he started ordering jagerbombs.
