I would actually feel much safer on the road if everyone had to pass a driving test in a vehicle without ABS, airbags, and all the other safety stuff that has bloated current vehicles. Hell, lets make people take a driving test with drum brakes on all 4 wheels. Oh, and make it a manual transmission.

I would think that folks would be much more careful driving if their cars didn't have all the safety equipment that cars today have. I'm not saying that safety equipment is not a good thing, don't get me wrong. All I'm saying is that lots of folks drive like they are invincible because the chance that you will die in an accident have been greatly reduced by the safety equipment.

I bet that one has disc brakes, even though the gas tank might explode in a collision!

It amazes me that while the cars we drive have become increasingly safer (in part due to gov't regulations) the government does nothing to ensure that people are more skilled and safer drivers. It's a perfect example of a nanny state.

chargercrazy, one of my cars has no ABS or airbags and is a manual transmission. But it does have disc brakes all around

^^^ They actually look pretty cool when you turn them into race cars. I've seen a lot of them out at VIR. They replace the gas tank with a fuel cell though son.
