7/18/2010 10:30:59 PM
because Texas doesn't deserve any rain
7/18/2010 10:44:24 PM
well, i was actually more interested in the storm aspect than the rain.
7/18/2010 10:46:23 PM
allllllllllllll afternoon.
7/27/2010 8:02:41 PM
Damn, I need to come work down there. There's absolutely nothing going on up here in the Falls.
7/27/2010 8:04:39 PM
Houston seems to get a lot of storm activity, in general.
7/27/2010 8:13:24 PM
^I've been contracting in Houston for about 2 months and I've noticed the same thing. But the clouds/storms in Houston are so impressive I just stop and watch them sometimes

As resident Texas meteorologist, I feel I should post. Haha! Not too much activity here in North Texas and Southwest OK. One storm near Altus and a few more down in our far southern counties (just north of Abilene). I haven't seen severe weather up here in at least a few weeks. I should just be happy we're getting rain since dry weather and highs around 104 will be back later this week.

I was fine with ^ that post until i got to the 104 highs. Then I was .

That high pressure that has been buggin' everyone in Raleigh will be shifting back to the west. Putting that cap on the thunderstorms for a little while...at least up here.
7/27/2010 9:08:25 PM
well, I'll take our 60% chance of t-storms in this area for tomorrow. we had some roll through last night, and it knocked like 15 degrees off after they passed. it was actually pleasant!
7/27/2010 9:13:13 PM
I should rename this thread "Optimum and Stormbone865 discuss the weather."
7/27/2010 9:14:08 PM
The two guys who live here and the others who pass through discuss the weather
7/27/2010 9:15:45 PM
So I have to ask... why isn't it Doppler 7000?
7/27/2010 9:25:38 PM
Because it's a piece of crap, and I hate working with it! Plus we brand everything with "SkyWARN 7".

Here in South Texas we've had some serious downpours for the past 24 to 36 hours that haven't lasted more than 10 minutes. It's kinda different here than in NC- the rain hits really hard and really quick...then back to blue skies. While in NC it's more consistent- each afternoon around 4-6 pm it'll rain pretty hard for a little while and stay sticky and humid for a few hours afterward. If I had to make a metaphor, texas rain is like a 14 year old adolescent finding himself in bed with the two neighbor twins.....while NC rain is like a sophomore in college finding himself drunk on a one night stand at a fraternity party....
