Glad to hear you got the little Guy backNext step: ID collars and chips for the both of them

The kittens are chipped. ID tags are in the mail. Gus is getting chipped when the BFPA lady comes to get her trap back.Gus did not like being trapped. His meowing woke me up out of a dead sleep.

so the trap did workbetter gus than a raccoon
11/4/2010 8:56:23 AM
Yeah. I was glad I heard meowing and not possum or raccoon sounds. I was a little worried that we may have trapped another cat until I saw how fat the cat was. I then knew it was no other than Gus.

I asked the other day if we trapped a raccoon if we could keep that as a pet. He said no

lol... raccoons and opossums are not the friendliest cuddle buddies ever. And I'm glad to hear yall are taking the right precautions now (I know several people who have lost cats, and either gotten them back or gotten new pets and done nothing to help the cause if it were to happen again).

I was kicking myself for not having him microchipped earlier. Honestly I am all about being a responsible pet owner and hate when people are irresponsible. I had always wanted to have him chipped, but he HATES car rides and I was waiting until the next time he went to the vet to get it done. I didn't want to stress him out more than I needed to. And he used to like to walk out the front door, roll around on the concrete and go right back inside. So I never thought he'd actually go anywhere if something like this happened. So, PSA to everyone else, go get your pets chipped NOW, because you can't go off "oh he wouldn't go far."

it's funny - i grew up with cats and they were outdoor cats... always came back to the house when they were supposed to. guess not a lot of people have outdoor cats anymore?
11/4/2010 9:18:10 AM
My worry was just that he has never been an outdoor cat, and I wasn't sure he'd be smart enough to figure out where he was to get home. He is not all that bright.
11/4/2010 9:19:59 AM
haha not a lot of cats are you inspired me to email my mother to have her dog chipped cause he's always getting out.... she is planning on it
11/4/2010 9:22:49 AM
i had an outdoor cat when i was really young. he was cool. now if i barely touch an outdoor cat my face swells up like Rocky Dennis in minutes
11/4/2010 9:35:00 AM
I was the same way. I grew up with two longhair cats with no problems, but after I went to college I would go back to my parents' house and touch one and my face would get puffy and red. I'm curious how I'd be around them now that I have been living with cats again for a while. I don't know whether it's just the longhaired ones that get to me or if it's just not being used to them and their dander. I think I am going to hug Gus until his head pops off.

Glad you got your cat back. Now, go get him microchipped!I nearly had a stroke the one time one of my cats got out, and he was only out for about 1 minute. He pushed a window screen out.

^ THAT IS AWESOME. Good thing we still have the trap!

Several people have gotten their pets chipped as a result of this. So I guess it ended up being a good thing.
