my bad, I saw it was operated by unc. they have 2 studios, one in chapel hill and one in durham.

WUNC is somewhat school specific

the university is a big funder of the station
and the shows produced at WUNC regularly tap the resources of UNC (professors and other experts)

Yes it is called Rivalry week. It's when the Liberal Arts university plays the agriculture/engineering land grant university.

As far as the what rivalry is bigger argument, it depends on the sport. Duke pretty much sucks at football and baseball while NCSU is a little better, so NCSU vs UNC is the bigger rivalry. OTOH, Duke vs UNC is a bigger rivalry in basketball and soccer because NCSU hasn't done anything in the sports for over two decades now.
