I normally go to Home Depot. I used to go to Lowes all the time until I started building my shed. The lumber at Lowes is beyond terrible and I ended up spending over 2 hours there sorting through the lumber every time I went there. Tried Home Depot and it only took about 1/4 of the time to find the good stuff and now I know their store layout so I go there 99% of the time. There are no "local" stores near my place within a 15 minute drive.

i'd shop local hardware shops if they had a better selection, cheaper prices and a hot dog cart. but until then, i'm driving the .75 miles to Lowes to get my nuts, bolts and wieners. every time i've stepped in the door at Home Depot i've had a bad experience.

As far as Capital Blvd. goes, I say Home Depot. Lowes folks act like government employees. They usually don't even offer to help. I seem to find better help over at Home Depot.

Lowes has better lumber and "professional" tools, but they are tied for the incompetence of the hired help

i've always had pretty good customer service at Home Depot (once I found someone).
