Haven't been for a couple years, but Barry's cafe off Tryon used to be BYOB. They'd even bring you a frosty glass and store your beers in the fridge for youPlus they had top notch burgers

It's generally allowed, not advertised, and they may charge you a corking fee for bringing your own.[Edited on February 17, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Reason : At Buku it's $10 for a 750ml and $20 for anything bigger]

To hell with wine, do any places charge you for bringing your own beer or liquor?

I would love to bring my own nice beer to a restaurant sometime...

do any restaurants let you bring your own food too?

I've been to bars that don't mind it (that serve food too, mind you)I think as long as you are spending money there, they shouldn't really care (unless you bring in qdoba to ruckus and just order a soda... even then, I don't think most places like that would care).

Just like wine, restaurants ARE allowed to charge a corkage fee and let you bring in your own beer. The only way this would make any logically sense would be if you have some large format aged beer you've been waiting to celebrate with. Otherwise you will be paying the restaurant several dollars for each beer you wish to open.

^That's a horrible troll from you.A decent follower of my posts would reveal that I'm a huge wine/restaurant snob. I can't even bring myself to use coupons at restaurants, much less bring in my own booze.

FWIW there are lots of restaurants in NYC that are BYOB and they don't charge any gayass "corking" fees for beer and liquor.

Restaurants that don't serve alcohol are a lot more receptive to it--especially if you're with a large dinner party. I don't think we had a corking fee for bottles of wine at Wang's Kitchen and there were a dozen or more of us.

Could anyone suggest an authentic Asian restaurant, in the city preferably, that allows you to byob.I called Dalat and they said we could at a cost of 7 dollars. Is Dalat good eats?
