its ok, I can understand the awesomeness of living close to a bar. amedeos has shitty service and subpar food but I can walk there so I still go
8/25/2011 4:02:35 PM
If you like good beer, Flying Saucer downtown and soon Tylers Taproom in Seaboard Station. Raleigh Times is great for cheap eats, good beer and people watching. PBs is good for Hepatitis A.
8/25/2011 4:05:00 PM
i've been warned numerous times about PBs, and I was told to apply for a job at the Flying Saucer
8/25/2011 4:06:47 PM
Get a football ticket and come tailgating with us.
8/25/2011 4:09:34 PM
if i can get a ticket, i will most definitely take you up on that
8/25/2011 4:10:35 PM
if? just show up and buy one for $10, or maybe even less.
8/25/2011 4:11:00 PM
You don't need a ticket. Just tailgate.
8/25/2011 4:11:54 PM
ok then, yes i will be there
8/25/2011 4:13:43 PM
make friends on campus and have them request tickets for me.
8/25/2011 4:15:44 PM

Another thing you can do: Check out the other sections of the wolf web! The lounge will have events and stuff going on (in a more serious manner than Chit Chat), entertainment always has threads on upcoming movies/concerts/etc., and sports talk will take care of any sport you are interested in!
8/25/2011 4:57:59 PM
Don't spend exorbitant amounts at the crossroads theater- go to mission valley for new releases or blue ridge for month old $1.50 movies.

I really think it's a jewel of the South but alas, many on TWW are haters.
8/25/2011 5:16:47 PM
exiled- i wouldnt even begin to know where lynnwood is. wow, looks like i have a lot of choices for bars to check out- better get on that this weekend!
8/25/2011 5:18:16 PM
lol at the list of "hipster bars"There will be good music tonight at Tir-Na-Nog for free[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 5:30 PM. Reason : ]
8/25/2011 5:29:07 PM
Hipsters hate the Hive. It's too Glenwood South... I like it, though. Best outdoor seating in Raleigh? And also, Woody's is a better sports bar than any of those listed except TR if you actually want to see/hear games.[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 5:32 PM. Reason : and isaac hunters hipster? lol..]
8/25/2011 5:32:00 PM
i guess landmark and the times are sort of hipster, but if that's a category, neptune's should be on the listthe hive a hipster bar?? i don't think so[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 5:37 PM. Reason : -]
8/25/2011 5:35:08 PM
I could've used a thread like this back in the day Goodnight's Comedy Club near downtown has both local and nationally recognized comedians do shows there all the time (I've seen Tosh and MacDonald...McDonald?) So check it out and see who is coming to town. Don't have the website off the top my head, just google it.
8/25/2011 5:42:32 PM
you should ask about where the best barbecue place is, that'll be fun
8/25/2011 5:45:35 PM
I guess I should have put trendy, not necessarily scene or hipster. but it's a mixed crowd usually
8/25/2011 6:31:02 PM
I think the Hive is fairly hipster. But Neptunes is the epitome of hipster bar.
8/25/2011 6:39:39 PM
What's the place next door to the Hive that smells?[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 6:50 PM. Reason : slims?]

That's just silly. I have this argument all the time it seems, but I so very rarely see that type of crowd in any bar aside from Glenwood. I never see but one or two that would fit that cliche in any bar on Fayetteville Street, Wilmington St, at Flying Saucer, etc... unless you think anyone who wears a polo or a button up shirt is a fist-pumping guido. And I go out a lot and to a wide range of places, so it's not like I'm some recluse who doesn't see the downtown scene.[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 10:06 PM. why uhoh to working at the flying saucer?
8/25/2011 11:50:20 PM
^^ Probably. We spend too much time there. But now that we're closing on a house we're broke and eat ramen noodles every night
8/26/2011 9:04:09 AM
^^Don't listen to the haters in this thread. There's a lot of pretentious judgemental people on TWW. Most of the places mentioned are great, and aren't full of annoying people (regardless of what is said on here). Also nothing wrong with working at the Flying Saucer. They make good money and all seem like a cool bunch over there (one of the few bars in Raleigh that is busy every night).[Edited on August 26, 2011 at 9:15 AM. ^haha, no problem. My comments about the ppl on TWW weren't related to my Saucer comments.

I'm sure that's more of a statement of annoyance over the certain group of loud judgmental type on TWW that make it their quest to shit all over 85% of bars/eateries in Raleigh. It's the single most annoying trend on this site... Or maybe he's e-gaming?
