Don't think that all because you won a bitcoin argument against Arab13 that you are even close to winning this argument. You keep losing sight of the premise. You know damn well that we BOTH KNOW LYING IS LEGAL. I am arguing my stance on why IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.The example I used was a real life example that is similar to HARSH justice from doing something less than lying. It also pinpoint why INTEGRITY is so important. You're not going to find an example that's completely the same to prove my point... since this case is unique. You're justifying that lying is OKAY because it's not illegal, which is a stupid argument. All because you CAN it doesn't mean you SHOULD.

construing the letter as a binding contract is absurd. it's laughable.but even if it was, who cares? he's just a fatty.
9/13/2011 12:27:55 AM
Why is it laughable? It's not laughable at all. A letter with your letterhead, typed out by your corporation's hands, with your signature is not laughable. If you're laughing, then you have misplaced humor in a serious situation. It's condescending and it's toxic for the progress of humanity.

Consider the booth size limit a friendly reminder. If you can't fit in the booth perhaps you shouldn't be eating. It works out.

Breaking a promise is lame but suing over a broken "promise" is even lamer. What an immature, fast-food eating man.
9/15/2011 3:05:28 PM
It's fun to keep tabs on self-righteous shitheads who are all high and mighty about how they're "anti-hate" when it comes to gays and Amendment 1, but as soon as an opening is there, attack obese people as "secondary citizens."
9/15/2011 3:08:49 PM
^Exactly. I hate fat people as much as the next guy... but come on. All he wants to do is sit in your restaurant comfortably. At least be honest and post a sign that says "Must be under 40" waistline to sit in this establishment"Don't lie and say you'd accommodate the man and renig.[Edited on September 15, 2011 at 3:29 PM. 9/15/2011 3:19:47 PM
^^While I don't think "hating" any other citizen is good nor do I condone it, I can somewhat see what makes some other people appear that way in their reactions and I don't think you can really compare the two. At all.On one hand you have people who are being denied citizen rights that other Americans have simply due to something out of their control. On the other hand you have someone here who can't fit into a booth at a fast food restaurant but still has every opportunity to buy and consume the food as he pleases otherwise. Boohoo they promised and didn't deliver. It's crappy fast food. If it bothers you that much, take your business elsewhere and post an angst-ridden rant on your facebook page or something, but don't waste time possibly tying up the legal system.[Edited on September 15, 2011 at 3:27 PM. i'm just sayin' dawg.a second-class citizen is a second-class citizen. so how can anyone try to champion the rights of one class while simultaneously openly scorning the very existence of another.don't mind me. just making a point.--as far as the lawsuit - there's no consideration, it's not a contract, it's considered an illusory promise at best, and he's not entitled to any relief whatsoever.but that's not what i'm commenting on at all. i'm more or less commenting my observations at peoples' reactions to the story in the first place.[Edited on September 15, 2011 at 3:29 PM. 9/15/2011 3:27:05 PM
The fact that some people don't like them is not enough to make them a second class citizen imo. They aren't denying him service. I do understand what you are saying about being two-faced though. The main issue I have here is that regardless of fat or not, people suing over stuff that is not a legal issue is simply a major pet peeve of mine for some reason.[Edited on September 15, 2011 at 3:34 PM. 9/15/2011 3:28:42 PM
Are we arguing that fat people are second class citizens??Because they are. Just sayin.
9/15/2011 3:32:50 PM
9/15/2011 3:34:32 PM
I hate when people take more effort, time, and money and put it into something that can be solved so easily such as this case. It doesn't hurt anyone to put 1 or 2 handicap seats in there for larger guests. To deny this man a seat is causing pointless upheaval for no real benefit for themselves other than a sense of pride for being naturally skinny.[Edited on September 15, 2011 at 3:46 PM. Reason : .]
9/15/2011 3:46:09 PM
^He's denying himself a seat by continuing to be a fat ass.And it's not as simple as putting in a "handi-cap" seat. Shit, this guy would probably sue if they put in a handi-capped seat because he would say that he's not handi-capped and they are being discriminatory. But if they put in a couple seats at one place, they have to put them in all of the White Castles. That's expensive as shit.Much more cost effective to just tell this fat fuck to go run a few laps around the drive-thru before ordering his dozen sliders.
9/15/2011 4:04:46 PM
quote: "He is suing for bigger chairs and unspecified damages because he says the eatery is violating the Americans with Disabilities Act. (He compares himself to pregnant women and the handicapped.) "
9/15/2011 4:10:27 PM
Also, I don't know if I have ever been inside a fast food place that had 0 regular chairs and all booths. They aren't denying him service and chances are there are other places for him to sit in their establishment besides a booth. (granted, I'm hardly ever in a fast food join these days so maybe things have changed).[Edited on September 15, 2011 at 4:15 PM. Reason : ]

9/15/2011 4:17:04 PM
Perhaps buying one chair is the solution.Like I said, the solution for this case is elementary and for it to blow up this large is mind blowing.
9/15/2011 4:19:45 PM
Cripples get ramps. Preggos get choice parking. Fatties can nothing, and thats the way it should be.
9/15/2011 4:20:01 PM
9/15/2011 4:21:32 PM
why does the establishment have to pay for a chair though? They already built their restaurant to the legally established building codes which include ADA requirements. If they thought they were losing business over their booth size they would have already done it (assuming the unlikely case that they have no regular chairs already).I understand not wanting to be discriminatory, but at the same time there is something to be said for establishments not having to bend over backwards for every little complaint and request if it isn't a legal issue.[Edited on September 15, 2011 at 4:30 PM. If someone can't walk into the building with their own legs, then they get their own wheelchair... White Castle doesn't provide a moving sidewalk from the parking lot or rental wheelchairsIf someone can't fit into a any available seat (built to code requirements), then they should bring their own chair/wheelchair to sit at the end of the table.... White Castle shouldn't have to provide it
