I understand that vinylbandit readily concedes that they are apples and oranges, but even an apples and oranges comparison between Nevermind and whatever Amy Winehouse's album is called is downright comical. The same goes for the other artists mentioned...I mean, I've heard of Arcade Fire, mostly as the butt of jokes, but to my knowledge, I've never heard any of their songs. If I did, I didn't know what I was listening to. LCD Soundsystem and The Avalanches? Never fuckin' heard of 'em.Caveats notwithstanding, if this is the best refute that you've got, my point stands.[Edited on October 1, 2011 at 1:41 AM. Reason : ]

you do understand the politics behind why you haven't heard those bands, right?[Edited on October 1, 2011 at 1:40 AM. Reason : that's better]

Maybe. Go ahead and expand....not that anything you say is going to change my mind. I'm not blaming it on the artists. I'm saying that the music industry has been more or less fucked for at least a decade.[Edited on October 1, 2011 at 1:45 AM. Reason : ]

Pinkerton was 15 years old on the day that Nevermind was 20 years old

^^^^^Never heard it.Not terrible, I guess, but resoundingly "ehh." I'd definitely never buy the album for it. It's the kind of song where, if it came on the radio, I'd cycle through the rest of the presets to see if there was anything else, but if not, I'd probably come back to it and hear it out before I switched to a CD.
