My grandpa has called every gaming console since the 80s my "Entendo.""Emmanuel, why don't you turn off your Entendo and go outside?""Papa, it's a Sega Genesis/Dreamcast/Game Cube/Xbox/Playstation/Wii."[Edited on October 18, 2011 at 12:02 PM. Reason : PS 2]

PC indeed has become genericized from "IBM-PC"; I think the switchover happened in 1995, because in the heyday of Windows 3.1 the computers were still being referred to as "PC Compatibles"

I don't know what's up with the Apple-to-Generic connection. I've never heard anyone who didn't know what an "MP3 player" is. Hell, my grandparents know what an MP3 player is or a smart phone. I can almost see calling an MP3 player an "iPod", but who the fuck doesn't know what a smartphone is and calls it a "iPhone" generically? If we're talking tablets, let's through "Slate" out there. Around work I've heard a lot of people talk about getting a new Slate (because there were a few experimental programs that used HPs).Another obscure one: 'Swiss Miss' instead of hot chocolate mix.
