lol at people using agave nectar. it's worse than HFCS. god bless branding

I actually started drinking my hot tea unsweetened last week. I prefer it that way now. I like agave nectar though. It dissolves quickly, it has less calories than sugar, low glycemic index. I use it for waffles and pancakes, because maple syrup (both real and fake) and corn syrup make me break out in hives.Hmmm..I just did some googling. Maybe I will try some sorghum syrup or sulfur free molasses. I am insulin resistant, and apparently agave nectar can cause insulin resistance because of the high amount of fructose. Still, i am not allergic to it, which is not something I can say often right now [Edited on March 30, 2012 at 10:46 AM. Reason : .]

I drink a ton of green tea and other than making me pee a lot I haven't noticed much difference.

there are so many sites from which to order tea. which one has the best black teas? i'm an earl grey fan, so let's start there. looking at Tazo and Republic of Tea now. I'm probably going to do some kind of sampler with different blacks. Right now i mainly drink Earl Grey, unsweetened in the mornings.

this thread inspired me to brew a cup of this (which isn't spectacular, but it's okay and it's all i've got here, at the moment)

I am so glad I pulled the trigger on loose whole leaf tea instead of bags. the difference is amazing. 0EPII1 recommended the Vanilla Almond. I really like this one, though the aroma is more flavorful than the taste. maybe it needs longer steeping. Does anyone else order from Republic of Tea? their shipping is quick to NC, had it on my doorstep in two days.

I've liked all of them. I bought full tins of Earl Greyer and Darjeeling. thinking about ordering more Vanilla Almond as well as that one is great whenever i get a sweet craving. I just want to mix it up a bit.

I miss my hot tea. only thing I can drink right now is black tea which is my very least favorite.

The other week I learned that Darjeeling can come in non-black varieties. I think I got a pot of Darjeeling green tea or something. It was awful. It tasted of rotting grass clippings. If I hadn't had a tin of really good Darjeeling black tea at home, it might have put me off the whole region.

picked up one of these this week and it. is. amazing. for lack of a better description it is basically a french press for tea. it dispenses from the bottom with a metal mesh filter to collect the loose leaf tea. The strainer is so fine that even the crumb ends of my tea tins aren't making it through. First thing I did was mark lines to designate 8, 12, and 16 oz that way i'd have the perfect amount of water to tea. The heavy walled plastic and lid are great for keeping the heat in. even a 7 minute steep leaves me with a hot cup of tea. they come in two sizes. 16 oz and i think a 32oz. but for just me the 16oz is perfectly sized and is still big enough to make a second cup for anyone that happens to stay the night definitely a step up from using my single serve strainer ball.
