I wish Anotherthyme in Durham was still open. Cafe Parizade in Durham is delish. So is Nana's.Fearrington House is really cool, but prob a bit far.For Raleigh, I LOVED Margaux's. May be too pricy, but it's delish. Humble Pie is low-key, but good for a date night. [Edited on January 25, 2012 at 4:41 PM. Reason : f]
1/25/2012 4:40:36 PM
Margeaux's is amazing! I second Lucy's nomination of that!
1/25/2012 4:42:05 PM
oooohhh I had forgotten about Margeaux's...DaphneGrey and I went there years ago...place was aaaaaawweeesome.

1/25/2012 4:43:52 PM

1/25/2012 4:44:42 PM
I haven't been to Hayes Barton in a couple years but IIRC they have a kickass chicken pot pie

Forgot one: Coquette Brasserie ... I went a couple of years ago and it was fab. Not the most exciting part of town, but loved the food and ambiance.
1/25/2012 5:10:48 PM
Roommate is a server at second empire, place is very nice. I clean the fish tank at margauxs which is also nice, but not as good as it was a few years ago. Saint Jacques is supposed to be amazing French
1/25/2012 5:56:19 PM
not raleigh, but definitely a good hidden chinese place.http://www.yelp.com/biz/35-restaurant-cary

I second Vinnies and SittiSullivan's used to be my favorite steakhouse, but the service and food quality has fallen off the last couple of times we've been. Vinnies has been consistently good. If you have never been I would highly recommend giving it a shot. I've never had anything but the steak there (which are awesome) so you might wanna check out the menu online.
1/25/2012 6:13:14 PM
If you're open to Durham, try Nana's http://www.nanasdurham.com/
1/25/2012 6:16:13 PM
"Anni," huh?
1/25/2012 6:33:32 PM
1/25/2012 6:34:21 PM
Nana's or Bloomsbury Bistro. Yeah, there are better places, but they'll impress and not break your wallet like some of the others.
1/25/2012 6:41:03 PM
35 is gross the only people I've heard recommend that place were people who have neve actually been thereI'd also like to second Rey's and add a suggestion - Shuckers in wake forest
1/25/2012 7:20:17 PM
the ethiopian place in mission valley
1/25/2012 7:42:04 PM
The Chinese graduate students I worked with recommended 35, I enjoyed it, but you do have to be ready for some authentic Chinese (some of it is sorta off the wall). Its food from southwestern China (thats how they described it, I had no idea chinese food varied that much by region). A lot of it was pretty spicy (hot) which I enjoyed.Other than that I'll echo Irregardless. I just don't think you can go wrong there.
1/25/2012 7:45:43 PM
I've heard that place in Mission Valley is good, I think they sell classy Ethiopian style cuisine.
1/25/2012 7:48:22 PM
Good call on Shuckers, begonias. I dream about their food. That said, the ambiance isn't romantic or intimate ... But the food is amazing!
1/25/2012 8:08:54 PM
I like the food at 35, but it's not a date place.
1/25/2012 8:12:47 PM
^^they moved. new place is down the road from the old one but waaaaaay nicer.
1/25/2012 8:14:03 PM
Oh yeah! I forgot. Have been to the new location once. It's not bad. Def more polished. And for seafood lovers, def the best in Orlando. I worked at 42nd St for years and loved their oysters, but Shuckers can't be beat. Best of its kind in the triangle.

Midtown Grille in North Hills could fit your needs pretty well. and that place is fucking delicious.
1/25/2012 11:48:05 PM
Went to the Angus Barn tonight with some sales guys from work. Place is pretty great I thought. The Chef tables in the kitchen would be an awesome dining experience. Toured the wine cellar too, which is very nice.[Edited on January 26, 2012 at 12:04 AM. Reason : Also the basketball team had just left the restaurant when we got there.]
