2 open doors

When i was in high school, i made this one girl open doors for me anytime she was nearby. I saw her recently and she said "Hey do you still not open doors? i met someone in college and they made me think of you"I'm Krallum and I approved this mesage.

Let's all just agree that whomever reaches the door first opens it. Getting angry with someone for holding the door is stupid.I will say, though, that guys down here are more likely to do things like rush to open doors for you or let you exit the elevator first. I didn't really encounter that when I was up north. It's just a cultural difference, not that guys legitimately think you can't open your own door. [duh]

Well, maybe if they'd put in some overtime instead of taking all that time off for having babies and such. . .

I don't understand man-hating... or getting defensive and feeling "oppressed" because someone performed an action that was taught to them as simply being polite & the right thing to do... it's a foreign concept to some - but it really isn't just all about you (although you, in this area, may very well be the one that looks like a cold hearted bitch that needs both a laxative & possibly an orgasm). If a man intentionally beats me to a door to open it for me, I DO - indeed - feel respected. I do not, however, feel the need to get my panties in a wad and cry because my rights as a human being, or my place in the 21st century, has been crushed because of this gesture.I am a Southern, strong, passionate, independent, happy, joyful woman - who also has a brain - attempting to lead a life well lived... My door is not being opened because I am unable... and should a gentleman feel the need to open my door, I will thank him - and quite possibly feel appreciative that he thought enough of me as a human being to gesture this small token. So yes, I do find the writer of that article's 'truth' to be ridiculous.

Pic related it's the author when someone opens a door for her.

Eh, that's talking about people that *think* they're smart with no objective viewpoint to back it up. I was thinking of more objective metrics where kids take EOG/SAT/IQ/etc tests and score in the 99th percentile. They don't just think to themselves that they're smart, they've been told as much. And I'm not going to argue about standardized testing and intelligence measures. Those are generally accepted measures of one person being "smarter" than another today (whether that's fair or not is another discussion entirely).

^^ You do understand that some score better than others on these tests and that they are largely focused on problem solving abilities rather than book knowledge (e.g. who was the 14th president of the united states). Thus they are reasonable measures of intelligence.Additionally, although not matriculated, engineers can enter NCSU in the college of engineering rather than first year college, allowing them to take engineering classes for which they meet the requirements and largely differentiating their courses from those taken by non-engineers.

man, this turned into a p33n-length contest pretty quickly.

fresh out of high school I started NCSU as a sophomore in the English departmentbut I'm not as smart as an engineer because I am in the Humanities, right?these confident young students are most likely suffering from the Dunning-Kruger Effect... but that's also not to be valued because it is psychologyhttp://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/evolved-primate/201006/when-ignorance-begets-confidence-the-classic-dunning-kruger-effect

You're just trolling now. We were talking about cocky engineers in specific. My whole point was to make people think before writing someone off for being cocky. But do whatever you like.
