OMG SO FUNNY HOW THESE PEOPLE DRESSEDmeanwhile, all of your kids will be laughing at what you look like now.the only thing that really hasn't changed is that the elderly still dress like the elderly. there's some wisdom in that, i think.
2/20/2012 3:12:27 PM
So what you're trying to say is, start dressing like the elderly now?
2/20/2012 3:15:01 PM
how come old people shrink, yet their pants are still always way too short?]

I heard Eastland Mall is now closed. That makes me super sad. That's where I went to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and would have nightmares about falling over the third level railings onto the ice.

^^^ Eastland Mall has been closed for a while now. I think there were only one or two tenants left when I arrived in Charlotte and that was about three years ago. But they do have a nice, new bus station out front on Central Ave. though.
2/20/2012 4:04:32 PM
You summabitch! Haha. Those escalators can go to hell too! So sad to see the ice gone though. That was the first place I ever went skating. Childhood fears ITT. [Edited on February 20, 2012 at 4:06 PM. Reason : .]

I saw Jurassic Park at Eastland mall. I think that may have been the last time I went in that place...they had a sweet arcade though. Mall arcades were the best.
2/20/2012 4:14:28 PM
ahh i remember south square mall in durham... used to be on 15-501 where target is now. it even had a 2-screen movie theater waaay back in the day. i miss that place!

2/20/2012 4:18:29 PM
arcades in malls are also pretty much extinct now. RIP Cyberstation.
2/20/2012 4:19:04 PM
I found an arcade at a mall in the DC/Maryland area recently, can't remember the name of it but I played the hell out of the pinball machine.
2/20/2012 4:20:45 PM
There's a pretty crappy arcade in Four Seasons mall in GreensboroCyberstation was the 2nd arcade in Crabtree. The first was called Aladdin's Castle.
2/20/2012 4:23:19 PM
There was an Aladdin's Castle at Hanes Mall as late as 2003
2/20/2012 4:27:16 PM
I just went to Dave & Buster's last night
2/20/2012 4:34:19 PM
Oh man I loved that Aladdin's Castle. Sometimes, probably when my parents just didn't want me hanging around, they would give me 20 bucks and leave me in there for like 3 hours.[Edited on February 20, 2012 at 4:37 PM. Reason : for 20 bucks you got 30 bucks worth of tokens!]

I was friends with so many managers at Aladdin's Castle at Hanes Mall. So many great memories of that place.1) Won the Time Crisis 2 tournament.2) Anyone remember when Adam was the manager? Tall, white guy. He modded the Tekken 2 machine (the big ass one) so that it would work with nickels. 10 plays for $1.00!3) Adam would let us all in after it closed and put the games on free play. We'd be there in until 11:30 or midnight.4) Dropped acid so many times while hanging out there.5) If you wanted drugs, all you had to do was walk directly across to Frank-n-Stein (and talk to Shell, which I assume was short for Michelle).6) Really awesome people hung out there. Liz, Raven, Michelle (not the same as from Frank-n-Stein), Gerald, Scott (Gerald and Scott always wore the black trench coats), Stoney, Damien, etc.
2/24/2012 4:14:24 PM
I miss arcades. So much.
2/24/2012 4:17:02 PM
i think the reason Eastland Mall closed down had something to do with all the gang related fights and shootings that occurred inside the mall

2/24/2012 4:36:54 PM
lol @ nerds ragin in the food courtWe need to have a TWW Arcade field trip. Seems to be a lot of holes in our hearts that only arcades can fix
2/24/2012 4:45:56 PM
^^ ya, last time i was there was probably circa 2003 with the usual DDR crowd.
2/24/2012 4:51:44 PM
