Damn, and I thought my countertops were not neutral enough. Got verde butterfly and love it.

I really really like it on its own merits. I don't think I like it for that kitchen. Not because of the red--which I think could work nicely with a mahogany or dark cherry stained cabinet--but because I don't think the gray goes with that cedar coloring at all. Plus the floor is a wild card, and if it retains a yellowish or honey color, it's all going to look weird.

ummm - it looks like the solar system or something. If you're into that sort of thing go for it. I however wouldn't buy a house with that shit in there without wanting to replace it. Good Luck!

Thoughts?Floors are going to be roughly this color:The cabinets are white and the walls are a taupeCurrent kitchen before renovations: I like things about all of those. The lighter stuff might be better for resale but I would be happy with of these. Thoughts?

This is a limpwristed thread

all those are boring...but if you must, go with the lightest one (last one)

I like the last one you posted.

At first glance I like the last two options best.Between those two I like the very last one the most I think. That one is pretty sweet. If the majority of the slab actually has that somewhat consistent but natural pattern it could make for some pretty cool counters. It's always hard to tell the scale of the pattern and the way it looks on a large slab from those sample images though :/[Edited on February 1, 2013 at 1:01 PM. Reason : ]

go for the last one if you want an open, warm, light, and airy kitchen that you'll maintain as such (not huge contrasts, etc.)If you want to add a modern flare and contrasts, go with a much darker granite, but then also add some other contrasting, wow features.

These are pics of the almost whole slab so the patterns are pretty consistent...I agree Diva, they are a bit boring for my tastes too but I'm trying to compromise on resale and my tastes. It's a difficult trying to stay within my budget. I did see some darker granites that I liked and think the stark contrast would look great but my concern is making a 12 x 12 space seem smallerI like the second one the best because its less boring and I think the grey section at the top would be a nice backsplash I have a few others that I thought were ok I'll post them in a second[Edited on February 1, 2013 at 1:12 PM. the 2nd one in this last post looks pretty cool as well.
2/1/2013 1:13:44 PM
Yeah I'm kind of liking that on too...it has all the colors of the walls and floor
2/1/2013 1:18:25 PM
yep, that's what I was thinking. Seems like it would coordinate with the floor well and definitely tie in to the paint swatch you posted previously. It's not dark, but seems dark enough to get the contrast you are looking for as well.

The original one is great if you want your countertop to look like Jupiter. So maybe Neil DeGrasse Tyson might love it.

2nd one of 2nd post is the overall winner. Get that one.

Agree with 2nd pic from 2nd post. Good balance of uniqueness and the colors you want.

Looks gneiss. Don't take it for granite.
