I disliked Thrift Shop from the first time I heard it, but I've liked the rest of his songs that I've heard.
1/28/2014 1:46:14 PM
This guy wins the most annoying person award for 2013.

Don’t Hate Macklemore Because He’s WhiteHate him because his music is terrible.http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/culturebox/2014/01/macklemore_grammy_wins_don_t_hate_the_thrift_shop_rapper_because_he_s_white.html
1/28/2014 3:35:13 PM
wow no talk about his text to kendrick [and instagram of said text]?
1/28/2014 3:37:19 PM
I don't really follow the Grammys but why was good kid maad city even up for best rap album of the year? It was released in 2012.
1/28/2014 4:09:08 PM
1/28/2014 4:46:49 PM
dude doesn't have a good voice for any type of music. If you can call what he does music.
1/28/2014 6:48:45 PM
dang wheres the hate coming from? i guess everyone is just judging him off thrift shop and white walls. its unfortunate he made those singles because the rest of the album is musical brilliance. he and ryan lewis have changed the game and they've done it with positive rap music. i can't figure out why this guy is being worshipped by everyone. his tracks speak out for independent music, the voice of the people, same love, consumerism, alcaholism, but i guess the iq level of our nation isn't there yet.
1/28/2014 10:56:48 PM
I don't get the hate either. Music is so subjective, at least Macklemore stands out somewhat from the universally terrible field.
1/28/2014 10:59:36 PM
i'm a bit of a hip hop head and i'm not really a fan of his musicand that "same love" song isn't going to change someone's heart or mind all by itselfbut it's definitely a part of a wave that will eventually be responsible for changing the sentiment of our society toward good, away from evil, toward justice, away from injusticei can get behind that shit. good on ya, Macklefuck.
1/29/2014 12:45:37 AM
he's an insanely successful artist in control of his own shit, gotta respect him for thatthat doesn't mean his music is good though, because it's not
1/29/2014 12:48:09 AM
it's hip-hop for people who don't really like hip-hop.
1/29/2014 12:57:33 AM
it's was a bland album. Maddcity was better
1/29/2014 1:07:04 AM
kendrick lamar album isn't even good. half the time he is rapping from the perspective of his 15 year old self. it only got a bunch of hype because of that stupid mixtape he made dissing everyone. thing is what you call hip hop today is not actually hip hop. real hip hop has been hijacked by people like kendrick. real hip hop like pac used to be about a movement and changing the culture. macklemore is about that in so many of his songs. much closer to actually being hip hop than the other good rap albums.

Earl trolls like an 8 year old.
1/29/2014 12:20:14 PM
I didn't think this guy's music was intended to be taken seriously.
1/29/2014 12:35:00 PM
Oh shit, E Man brought out the "real hip hop" argument.
1/29/2014 12:36:11 PM
I'm glad he did. I ended up on a hunt for some original hip hop and just listened to this on repeat:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTJ6RrQoOxUGET FUNKY!
1/29/2014 12:40:32 PM
His lyrics mention Malcolm Gladwell's ten-thousand hours, anti-consumerism, addiction, gay rights, and a bunch of other themes popular with upper middle class that live in cities. His album expertly covered the right things so people that listened felt smart and was catchy enough to have broad appeal for an ironic commercialization. That said I do really like it.Re: What was said above about substanceNeon Cathedral first verse:

why don't you guys post some more walls of dumb Macklemore lyricsI mean, seriously? you expect people to read all that? you can't even bold your favorite line?
1/29/2014 12:51:15 PM
Maybe I should have just tweeted about it.

1/29/2014 1:57:12 PM
I watched the Grammys last year praying that Mumford would lose and Frank Ocean would win because I love Frank. The nominees for best alternative album were decent but these award shows don't care about the art. It's all about views and pushing political agendas. I will not watch The Oscars this year because 12 Years A Slave will get it's nob slobbed due to it's Afro-British director. Am I the only one that thinks this special treatment is insulting? I didn't really like Shame but I've heard nothing but good things about 12 Years a Slave. I'm sure it's a good movie but that is beside the point. Before Midnight didn't even get nominated so get that shit out of here. It should be about the art, not white people feel goody politics. Fuck that.[Edited on January 29, 2014 at 2:10 PM. Reason : .]

The Grammys are based on record sales. You're supposed to watch them to see if there was any popular music that you might kinda like.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award#Nomination_processHoly shit. People actually vote for them? LOL, this whole time I thought it was like a celebration of who sold the most records. [Edited on January 29, 2014 at 2:47 PM. Reason : This is sad.]
1/29/2014 2:42:46 PM
^ Are you for real?
1/29/2014 3:53:22 PM
Dead serious. A long time ago, I was told (facetiously, I guess) that the Grammys were based on record sales. And that's what it always seemed like so I believed it.I had no clue that people were actually voting. Frankly, I'm still not sure that's the case.

E man, "Keisha's song" is another Kendrick Lamar song that has some substance to it...but troll on man.
1/29/2014 5:38:27 PM
Macklemore can sing about issues in the world all day long. He's still annoying. Oh my gay people should be allowed to marry?!? Why I have never heard of this issue until this fine young man with a silly haircut informed me.
