man fellas, I dont even know what to say. I turned away from the game to watch the A&M game and State got back into it, the first play I turned it back for was the game winning TD

there in no doubt in my mind that the fix was in with Amersonzero

We play like that and Clemson and FSU should each drop about 100 on us and throw for 1000 yards. Congrats on letting Stephen Morris become a record holder. ASSHOLES!

^^ he's looked god awful against State's only two real opponents. Not below expectations, not average, not bad, but horrible[Edited on September 29, 2012 at 4:05 PM. Reason : d]

^^^^^^I don't know much about football...why would the kicker missing field goals mean we shouldn't go for the win?[Edited on September 29, 2012 at 4:04 PM. Reason : ?]

The idea is that we would hold them to a FG attempt in OT, which they would miss. Just as much speculation/hindsight as any other guess.

I don't mind that loss... I can't blame them with all that heat and humidity when we practice in the bitter cold mornings of Raleigh
9/29/2012 4:22:16 PM
We would be unbeatable in a dome
9/29/2012 4:25:05 PM
Bright side is that at least now we beat FSU. BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT WE DO.
9/29/2012 4:25:08 PM
That line about heat was pissing me off. Them fuckers work out all year in the heat of the summer. If you are exhausted from heat in the first qtr we need a new coach.

we still beat fsu and clemson/bc and we're in the ship.[Edited on September 29, 2012 at 4:55 PM. Reason : but then again we'll prolly drop a wtf to maryland or wake. ]
9/29/2012 4:54:59 PM
aint that always the case with us
9/29/2012 4:56:23 PM
im just saying we prolly suck but if we dont suck and really did give this game away then its no big deal because if we won this game we still have to beat fsu and clemson and now that we lost this game we have to beat fsu and clemson.the only difference is now we can't lose to a random acc team unless fsu does the same. this was our "game in the bank"and if we lose to fsu its not like we were going to get 2 games ahead of them anyway so we can live with not being a top 10 team.

I don't even know how to explain that performance I saw today. Amerson-I don't believe what I saw. I am in some kind of agreement with those that think he threw the game. It was THAT bad. 28 pts on him alone.Offsides penalties-I gotta put this on the coaches. Were they not prepared for the hard count AT ALL? As many times as they got them, you would think they've never played defensive line at all. Probably 6-8 times jumped offsides today.Offense-Sans that bs interception at the end of the game and all the fumbles in the first half...no complaints. Miami's defense is pitiful though, absolutely pitiful. Brandon Barnes was running at will for goodness sake.Sade-how in the hell are you gonna make a 52 yd field goal to tie the game with 2 min to go, but miss an extra point son?
9/29/2012 8:52:31 PM
Besides being dusted be all of their receivers, Amerson didn't even put hands up on any of the TD passes against him, check out the video.

Amerson did not lose this game. TOB lost this game. Bad recruiting lost this game. The heat in florida won this game.

What pisses me off the most about yesterday's game is that if you erase half the mistakes, we probably looked like one of the best team's in TOB's history here at State.- Our o-line looked extremely solid. Glennon had time and other than the RB missing the chip block when he fumbled, the RB's picked up blitzes well. I think he got sacked like twice. - We rushed for over 200 yards! When was the last time we did that against a decent, FBS opponent? It didn't matter who we plugged in, those guys were able to pick up 5 yards a pop on every carry. On short yardage situations, we got the two or three yards we needed almost every time. Those are the biggest holes I've seen at the line of scrimmage against an ACC opponent since TOB has gotten here. And our RBs are solid. Maybe that new RB coach has made that big of a different. Thornton looks like he has a bright future as well.- Glennon looked great. That's not too big of a deal because he's had really good games before, but it just goes to show that if has time, he's probably tops in the league. He throws a magnificent spiral. He also had a couple plays that he made out of the pocket (the TD on 4th down), which he's normally horrible at.- I thought the play calling was good. Play calling is always going to look better when you're picking up 5 yards every time you run the ball, but I definitely wasn't frustrated with a lot of the calls like I've been in the past.So that's it. If we only turn over the ball a couple times, don't make some fucktastically stupid mistakes (FUCK YOU AMERSON), and only have 5 offsides rather than a million....we win going away and everyone leaves this game feeling awesome. This is the shit that happened every week during Amato's tenure and something we haven't seen much with TOB. I mean...fuck.That's what frustrates me the most about yesterday's game.
9/30/2012 8:15:55 AM
I wouldn't get too excited about the rushing just yet...Miamia has given up 200+ yards to everyone they played except for BC. Bethune-Cookman rushed for 200+ against them.
9/30/2012 9:25:49 AM
Miami is bad, we are worse
9/30/2012 11:37:52 AM
But all Bethune Cookman does is run the ball. It's like playing a triple option offense....they're going to get yards. They averaged 4.4 yds a carry...not exactly earth shattering.I'm not saying Miami has a great defense...but let's not act like they are an FCS team. They still recruit better than us and are full of athletes. We've struggled to run against some shitty teams...so watching our RBs go 3 or 4 yards before first contact was fucking wonderful. I feel like I haven't seen that in years.[Edited on September 30, 2012 at 11:38 AM. Reason : .]
9/30/2012 11:38:19 AM
Dude....its Bethune-Cookman. Other illustrious opponents such as TN State, SC State, and Hampton held them to fewer rushing yards. Miami's rush D sucks.

Got nothing to add except it was fucking hot.
9/30/2012 4:53:45 PM
^It was crazy hot. I don't know how they described it on tv, but we had to get up in the 2nd quarter and move to the shade for a few minutes. By far the hottest game I've ever been to, and I've been to the majority of our games for the last 10+ years... (And I live in Miami)
9/30/2012 6:03:05 PM
9/30/2012 6:05:49 PM
^^ Yeah, it was brutal. We had players running off the field (and mostly not making it) to puke pretty much every drive in the fourth quarter. I can't imagine playing in all that gear. I swear last night I felt like I did a major workout just from all the water weight I lost in the stands. For the second quarter and five minutes in to the third I had to go underneath and just went to the Bacardi Bar. When I went back to the State section all the concessions around ran out of water AND Gatorade, which was nice.[Edited on September 30, 2012 at 8:56 PM. Reason : x]

I liked the missed extra point and the Miami touchdown that hit off of Bishop's facemask and went right to the Miami WR.
9/30/2012 9:41:01 PM
I still stand by it being one of the more entertaining games I've ever seen. For people who say it was "horrible"...to an unbiased watcher, it had to have been fun. There were times it was ugly because of the mistakes, but there was tons of offense. I posted this, I think, about halfway through the third quarter:
9/30/2012 9:45:51 PM
Jbrick83 is making some great points amongst typical State fanbase calling for our respected coaches head based on a loss that was very close to being the ugliest of ugly wins. If we escape out of there with a win, NO ONE would give us credit..it would all be "Miami lost it" not that "NCSU won it". Its not great but it takes character to stay in a game that is constantly not going your way. Our red zone D looked competent and effective yet we couldn't keep our safeties from letting receivers behind them for big plays...time and again. The 65 yard bombs killed us, our Defense gave up huge plays on offsides free plays over and over waiting for whistles that never came. It was dumb mistakes over and over but Glennon, our O-line, our red zone D, and our RBs kept us in the game (which by all means we shouldn't have been in - see quote above about MIA not letting us lose lol). Miami was A LOT more athletic than us, yet we kept them in striking distance even down 3 scores early. CHARACTER. In reality we lost the game on 2 bonehead plays in the last minute (interception and subsequent bomb to the end zone). Its 4 games into the season and we are not out of the race by a long shot....but people are a surprised we aren't beating teams with notoriously better programs (MIA / TENN). Say what you want but it takes time and if you aren't satisfied with the direction the program is heading in, are you being realistic with yourself about the structure it takes to get to elite? TOB has done a great job putting the program first over star athletes and their agendas (Wilson). That takes balls when its your job on the line and you have a fan base notorious for unrealistic demands and expectations (Herb). If we push TOB out over shit like that we are resetting all progress made - which compared to Amato years is night and day from a discipline standpoint in my opinion. We are not an elite program yet...we are going to lose games we should win, make stupid mistakes, etc. But the point is that we are relevant and competing and contending and heading in the right direction. It surprises me people think this leap to excellence is an overnight affair. Its not, it takes years and multiple recruiting classes. It takes time and patience and support when you know you have the right coach that is changing the culture of your entire team and what is expected and what is acceptable (we have beaten our rivals 5 years straight). The guy can make our team really really good but turning on him after a 2-2 start is the reason other programs laugh at us AND why other coaches aren't chomping at the bit to come here...Just my 2 cents. Go Pack!
