What's a normal time frame to hear from an apartment rental company regarding any costs after moving out? We moved out July 31 and haven't heard a thing, despite being told we'd definitely be charged since we didn't paint over the walls before we left. I feel we should have heard by now. We also havent had any response to multiple emails.

Do you still have your lease? It should say in there how long they have to notify you. I think most places it's 30 or 60 days after you move out they have to have told you what you're being charged for or else they have to return your full deposit. So I wouldn't remind them

I didn't have a deposit. I'm sure I have the lease somewhere. We weren't even living there when we "moved out" but they have our forwarding address, emails, and phone numbers so they shouldn't be having difficulty contacting us. Maybe they're going to let us out free because I was such a bitch! Yeah right, wishful thinking.

The staff used to be polite and on point, but after 4 years they started fucking up and I would badger them constantly until they did their job. So then they were rude to me so I'd be rude back and so on and so forth. You'd think they'd want to screw me out of as much money as possible as quickly as possible.

In my last 2 leases I signed it said to refer to the addendum regarding move-in/move-out which was not attached with the other addendums. It may have been in the very first one I signed several years ago but I am having trouble finding it.

NC law states 30 days for an accounting of costs upon move out and how much is taken out of your deposit. If there's no deposit, then I assume the deadline still applies, but there's no incentive for you to enforce it.
