"" I exercise for stress relief. It helps me blow off steam, and it gives me time to think about other things in my life that cause stress and how to deal with them. Taking medication to relieve anxiety and depression does nothing to remove the causes of your anxiety or depression. These drugs have their place and can be very useful, but they are extremely over-prescribed for people that would be better off talking to someone about the root causes of their problems and trying to make changes in their life.""

Agreed. I was Rx'ed for anxiety and depression, but after some fairly large lifestyle and life/career/etc changes I'm no longer taking anything. The only issues I have are with anxiety/panic attacks every few months. Most of the time I can trace these to specific stressors that limit my ability to eat properly, get enough sleep, and workout.

me too.

and i said on the previous page i agree with exercise and lifestyle but right now that just isn't enough.

i just got prescribed wellbutrin to take with prozac for depression but it made me like FREAK OUT. super jittery heart racing couldn't sleep jumpy very anxious etc etc. i would rather feel depressed than feel anxious soooo...no more of that.

hopefully i can get referred to a therapist and then therapy + exercise + prozac will do the trick.

^^ haha yea i was on wellbutrin. i stopped taking them. i was on them for a year in high school but I just don't feel like i'm at that level of crazy to need them right now. I definitely went through withdrawal when I went off them the first time too so........ i'm going to leave those shits alone unless I need them for real.

side effects like whoa, cuz yea, they can cause seizures.

I used to have issues with extreme, borderline suicidal depression and bouts of intense anxiety and rage. But, through the mercy and blessings of our Lord, I started drinking.

I swear to God I have been a much happier, more balanced person ever since.

By now I've accepted that this doesn't work for most people, and will also put me in an early grave, but fuck it.
