i think people take meteorologists for granted big time. the only reason this forecast is even being talked about is because so many people hope it snows (i know i do). but you can't really knock the guys since they're essentially predicting where a system is going to form and move. thats pretty impressive itself, just the fact that they can give you a good idea of the temperature in the area. and the fact that they know enough to warn us about any precipitation at alll. getting estimates on snow accumulation is just a bonus.so many people knock them when they're off, but its only because they'd rather err on the side of making us aware of the weather that day. i really can't imagine people outside this area knocking the weatherman as much as it happens in NCwhen we start getting hit by hurricanes with no warning, and surprise snowstorms, and having 90 degree days when they call for 60, then people will have a right to complain. otherwise i think its pretty amazing that we have the luxury of knowing what could happen. even if it doesnt.plus you fools know you all fucked up your weather forecast diary in MEA 135!!1edit: as for me, i kinda like to look at the weather channel on snow stuff. just cause i do think they get a little silly when it might snow here. especially that damned fishel fool.[Edited on January 18, 2008 at 5:52 PM. 3 years to the day tomorrow is the anniversary of the historic half-inch snow storm grid-lock. Is Raleigh ready for whatever comes this time. At least it's a weekend this time. Not anticipating a good turnout at the basketball game tomorrow either. But the team already did it to themselves.

JACKLEG!!! Please STOP going to http://weather.com for the love of all things holy (or otherwise). Thanks for the props to us weather peeps. Sadly it looks like the clowns in Raleigh are going to get all of the fun this time and I will be at work in GSO.

Up to an inch of snow is headed for your area. We urge you to go to the store, steal food, horde gas. If you are an elderly American, you will not make it through this storm.
1/18/2008 7:48:55 PM
When I heard it might snow, I went to the store immediately. The liquor store, that is.
1/18/2008 7:53:23 PM
I hear that
1/18/2008 8:06:18 PM
It's a good thing I have a stash in the trunk of my car

^oh yeah back in the day when I lived at the beach and they would even mention a hurricane my parents would stock up on foods that me and my two brothers loved. The last thing they wanted during a stressful storm and dealing with power outages and damage was kids complaining about food. Cause that's what kids do...they don't care that the power is out, they want their pb&jit's always better safe than sorry. It's situations like these when we need to remember the good story of Noah's Ark[Edited on January 18, 2008 at 9:01 PM. Reason : ]

So if it does snowHow much will stick to the groundand how long will it be around for
1/18/2008 9:11:52 PM
they are saying at least 2-4 inches for the triangle... pretty confident about it tooand it will last until AT LEAST monday they say... it won't be warm enough to melt
1/18/2008 9:13:26 PM
^^^A potential hurricane vs. a low amount of snow are not even close to being the same thing. The "milk and bread" thing is just a quick name for the ridiculous, unfounded panic mode that retards in this area go into any time the word "snow" is included in the forecast. As if we're going to get 5 feet of snow and we'll all be stranded in our homes. This is North fucking Carolina, not Minnesota or Wisconsin.[Edited on January 18, 2008 at 9:15 PM. Reason : .]
1/18/2008 9:14:58 PM
well for north carolinians, a few inches of snow iced over on the roads (and not melting for a while) is as bad as a couple feet to people who are used to it[Edited on January 18, 2008 at 9:16 PM. Reason : especially if power is knocked out :-/]
1/18/2008 9:16:01 PM
A foot of snow...dumb fucks stay insideA little snow/ice on the roads...dumb fucks who have no idea how to drive don't stay inside.
1/18/2008 9:17:27 PM
ok i have to be in Norfolk on Monday nightHAVE to beso this shit better get off the road by monday, noon or 1 at the latest
1/18/2008 9:17:34 PM
my nuts in ur mouth
1/18/2008 9:17:38 PM
Milk and Bread seem like such silly things to have in a no power situation. Unless you have the things to make a boatload of sandwiches and in which case why wouldn't someone have bread on hand anyways? And I would think that water > milk. It's only really viable in the winter since it would just go bad in a hurricane. BTW there was a bigass halo around the moon about 45 mins ago. It's likely to still be there but I haven't been out to look at it lately. The bright looking "star" within the halo north of the moon is Mars.
1/18/2008 9:51:40 PM
quit trying to confuse me with your science
1/18/2008 9:52:59 PM
its shifting to the east more and morelol greg fishel is like "raleigh might not get anything, that would be....bad"
1/18/2008 10:02:55 PM
shit's awesome. going to enjoy this and drive out toward roanoke rapids. snow's a big deal when you've lived at the beach for 20+ years.
1/18/2008 10:06:59 PM
the winter weather warning says that the area on and east of Highway 1 will get an inch more than the projected 2-4"
1/18/2008 10:08:45 PM
i'll run through capmus in a diaper if we get more than 2 inches in Raleigh
1/18/2008 10:11:39 PM
1/18/2008 10:15:56 PM
fishel's going to end up in the fountain again this year
1/18/2008 10:16:20 PM
After all this, it's quite possible it all misses us now! At least the heaviest of it all.[Edited on January 18, 2008 at 10:21 PM. Reason : wx]
1/18/2008 10:20:07 PM
fishel needs to end up in the unemployment line
1/18/2008 10:21:10 PM
So... 6-12 inches has become 2-4.. right?
1/18/2008 10:23:56 PM
^Actually 1"-3" now aaaaaaall in 24 hours. And it's not even here yet so who knows what will change.V Rain should start around mid-morning, then it should switch over to snow after noon.[Edited on January 18, 2008 at 10:42 PM. Reason : a]
1/18/2008 10:24:52 PM
When is this going to start
1/18/2008 10:38:30 PM
noon-ish tomorrowI dont think its gonna miss us, there are no fronts coming to push it, and the winds are supposed to be northeast for the next 24 hours
1/18/2008 10:41:51 PM
we aint gon get shit
1/18/2008 10:42:11 PM
We are going to receive 5 inches of snow.
1/18/2008 10:44:44 PM
we'll get some sort of precipitation, I could see our unlucky asses wind up sitting at 33 degrees tomorrow and getting really really cold rain
1/18/2008 10:45:07 PM
yay, I have to drive in this shit. I'm not so much worried about the precipitation, but the morons.
