Reason : worry]

When this gets closer to actually getting underway, I would like to meet with someone who can show me around the software. Does anyone know what software it is, maybe I can just poke around it and figure it out myself./beg

minimum requirements for hosting a show:1) a broadband internet connection with AT LEAST 128kbps upload. more is better. this is VERY IMPORTANT.2) a computer running either windows xp or windows vista (if you're on a mac or use linux, PM me.)3) commitment to DJ your show(s) during the times you are scheduled. dead air will not be tolerated. if you don't show up for 2 of your shows in a row, all of your shows will be canceled until you prove to me that you're able to host your shows.4) you aren't behind a proxy or any sort of extravagant network setup (a simple home router is fine)5) if you're behind a NATting router, you have the ability to map ports to your IP.6) if you're behind a firewall, you have the ability to unblock 2 incoming ports.optional requirements:1) a microphone. it's HIGHLY PREFERRED that you have one. listening to music + robotic voices gets old after a while, if you haven't already noticed.the software used will include:1) a custom (i.e. i changed a bunch of stuff) version of the IceCast DNAS2) SAM Broadcaster 4.2.23) a dynamic DNS client of your choosing.SAM is the easiest and most user friendly way of doing it - i use DRS2006 for the main stream, but it's got a pretty steep learning curve.if you don't want to use SAM, you also have the option of downloading WinAmp and the SHOUTcast DSP plugin and just streaming a winamp playlist for your show... although this is pretty boring. i'd rather everyone use SAM so we can hear your voice and you can do fun things on the air.if you know what you're doing when it comes to radio automation/internet broadcasting, you may use whatever software you want as long as it can stream to the DNAS on your machine.how it will work:1) around 5 minutes before the scheduled start time of your show, go ahead and load up the IceCast DNAS and SAM, and get everything ready.2) connect a SAM encoder to your local DNAS and start encoding3) at your scheduled start time, the main streaming server will connect to your local DNAS as a client (you will see it connect, and SAM will show 1 listener)4) once the main server is connected, you will be live on the air.5) at the scheduled end time of your show, the main server will disconnect from your local DNAS (you'll see this happen also) - once this happens, you're not on the air any longer.detailed instructions will be made available, i promise.]

okay, sowhoever requested that i syndiacte rush limbaughi'm willing to do it on a trial basis, although i'm not sure if we'll keep it or not - i personally hate talk radio, and it's in the prime part of the day... pretty sure the majority of people would rather hear music. they can hear rush limbaugh on an AM station somewhere.BUT... like i said, i'm willing to try it.http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/menu/fathers.guest.htmlyou need to buy me a membership so i can get the feed ($6.95/month)
