^x6couldn't have said it better. those who really don't know and see the world through tunneled view really shouldn't comment. sayings its someones fault for living far out is the most idiotic thing i've heard in a while, and i'm on chit chat a lot, so thats saying something. what if you don't make enough at your job to live close enough? housing is typically cheaper further out. maybe people have kids to support and college educations for them for which they are saving. Where you buy a house isn't as simple as move to location x or location y, there are factors that go into it like school quality, neighborhood safety, house age, resell value, etc... also

Yeah, the people who are like "it doesnt hurt that much" have to realize that some of us are different and use more gas. And maybe it's a choice, but maybe it isn't.For example, my aforementioned boat. Gas going up 30 cents might not make that much difference to you when you use 10 gallons a week, but between my car and boat, that's a huge chunk of change.

all the idiots saying that the extra $10 we're paying for gas each week "doesn't matter" needs to go back to econ.most of the US economy runs on transporting goods, otherwise known as using gas.
4/28/2008 3:31:24 PM

4/28/2008 7:19:58 PM
While the rising price of gas scares the shit out of me, I do think this situation is going to force a lot of Americans in the 30 y/o and under range to sit down and finally figure out what it is to be fiscally responsible. That's not a totally bad thing to happen.
4/28/2008 7:27:11 PM
my solution is to keep driving my big ass truck, pay $150 in gas a week, and make up the carbon footprint for all those damn africans that walk everywhere

I'm pretty sure the last Depression was fairly global too. You just don't hear about the other countries because Asia wasn't as developed and Europe was between World Wars. They were still affected though. If there is gonna be another one though, there's basically no way it wouldn't be global.
