i thought it was a good night of fights, im not a fan of elite XCs broadcast style or havin busta rhymes rappin down the aisle but the fights were good

the stoppages were way too safe, Scott Smith was robbed of an opportunity badly, and the broadcasters show too much bias towards one opponent

I am finally convinced that Gina is worthy of the recognition shes getting, she needs to nix the hollywood stuff and come out real strong for her next fight i think they are done giving her showcase fights (and this fight with Kaitlin Young was definitely not a showcase fight that was a legit contender)

Kimbo needs work but who didnt know that, he said he was shocked at the strength of Thompson, maybe so but he had such an easy escape hipout at the end of the second round but he chose to lay there and get pounded, and he gassed pretty badly but this shit takes awhile to learn, Antonio silva and anyother legit contender is out of the question he needs to get out of the big fights of elite Xc and fight some smaller org heavyweights that we canwork on specifics with, enter grapplin tournaments etc..thompson was by no means owning Kimbo, Thompson fucked himself over by not keepin solid position when he chose to GnP and he never was relentless on the ground he owned himself and kimbo consistently lit him up on the feet even while gassed

Scott smith and Robbie lawler was almost fight of the year, i love when fights start out slow and then explode once both guys find their comfortable ranges, thats bogus the fans booed

I was actually pullin for poor ol phil baroni, he just consistently gets owned but joey is an excellent fighter

i dont care about brett rogers but if Kimbo has to sta in elite i would like to see these two fight

There really aren't a lot of options for Kimbo. The HW division is so weak in MMA in general that it'll be hard to find legit people for him to fight. Dropping down and doing smaller shows won't help him evolve.

I think if EliteXC is serious about having a HW division they need to go out and sign some talent or work with other orgs to run some cross promotional fights. I think a guy like Fujita would be an interesting fight for Kimbo. More likely he'll face off against a guy like Ricco Rodriguez after a few more "cans."

it will help him evolve because the fighters are less skilled overall but usually have one outstanding aspect in their fight game that his managers can find, theres millions of em out there yea its hand picking but thats how you develop your fighters Kimbo got a bad start being hyped as an instant celeb but it aint too late to go down a few levels and fight guys like this once a month in small shows or something, or hell enter grapplin or muay thai tournaments, fuck the record fuck whether he wins or loses just go in there and learn the skills

\unless by evolve his career u mean payday, but thats not the shit that should be the priority he needs to work on his SKILL and ebing in situations like he was tonight in live competition

I get what you're saying, but I think he's better off staying with a larger organization because they can bring in guys for him to fight. I think he probably needs to fight grapplers in his next 2-3 fights. Elite XC can bring in tougher tests than if he goes and fights for some regional org. It's just not gonna happen, he's got too big a contract for Gary Shaw to let him get hurt fighting outside of Elite XC.

James Thompson is pretty much the bottom end of the real HW pool. For him to have that much difficulty it shows that he just isn't ready yet. I mean, at this point I'm pretty sure that Tito Ortiz could come over and give him a vicious beating.

the point is developing skill, he can go to a grapplin tournament..go to thailand and get beat 78 times in a row, he will learn the skills he can use and add them to his training and his game

but youre right, gary wont let him out of the contract and unfortunately kimbo probably wont get an opponent that is designed to advance his development

because to shaw, kimbo is an investment just like carano...but carano is a heavily experienced combat athlete and theres not enough pro female competitors to feed her gimmies for long, shes gonna get the good fighters really soon (again, young is one of those good fighters as was Kedzie)

I'm sure I don't watch as much of this stuff as some of you guys, but I'm not sure I understand the outrage over the stoppage of the last fight. Thompson was stumbling and making no attempt to block. Do they normally just go ahead and let them get knocked out usually, because it looked like that was inevitable in a punch or two?

people were under the impression that the fight was stopped because of the busted cauliflower ear, which is debatable

i think the fight was stopped because the ref didnt think thompson was defending himself and was really hurt...which is also debatable but i am in agreement with that stoppage
