Bob and the Showgram had this guy on this morning. They tried to call the mayor and called him out for ignoring their calls.
8/4/2009 8:21:27 AM
I can't wait to see how this plays out.
8/4/2009 8:25:44 AM
if it doesn't end up with him getting the fuck out of cary, then he is an idiot[Edited on August 4, 2009 at 8:29 AM. Reason : fool me once blah blah blah]
8/4/2009 8:28:36 AM
I guess he just wants Cary to buy his house so he can leave. If that happens, I'd bet money on him buying another house in Cary.
8/4/2009 8:29:32 AM
if he does that, then he fully deserves the next ass-raping they give him
8/4/2009 8:34:54 AM
haha i think im the only person who lives in cary.and likes it.
8/4/2009 8:52:55 AM
^nope, hubster and i are plenty happy in cary and have no desire to live anywhere else except maybe, on the coast of somewhere beautiful...in sunny florida?]
8/4/2009 8:53:51 AM
^agreed! i LOVEEE my house and neighborhood
8/4/2009 8:56:16 AM
Is anyone else listening to this shit on the showgram? The guy is kind of being a bitch, and the lady sounds like she's about to shoot someone such a smart ass haha
8/4/2009 8:57:04 AM
yup, i like how we're 5 minutes from anything we could ever want. when it's time to upgrade the house, we'll likely stay in the same neighborhood
8/4/2009 8:57:22 AM
i dont listen to such garbage
8/4/2009 8:57:34 AM
8/4/2009 9:00:12 AM
8/4/2009 9:00:16 AM
8/4/2009 9:02:22 AM
Do you really think that's unique to Cary?
8/4/2009 9:04:33 AM
8/4/2009 9:04:40 AM
8/4/2009 9:05:54 AM
there is now a retaining wall where there once wasnt one and his entire driveway was re-routed and curved instead of straight. there is a more noticeable incline than before
8/4/2009 9:06:19 AM
8/4/2009 9:06:34 AM
i've seen worse water runoffs, the guy needs to get an engineer out there.but he's just looking for a quick out on his house
8/4/2009 9:07:08 AM
if you gave people a choice, then no infrastructure would ever get built in this country. that may sound great to you, but I actually like not having fucked up traffic and the utility infrastructure of a third world country.
8/4/2009 9:07:42 AM
mmmmm, i love that sprawl though!
8/4/2009 9:09:19 AM
that shows it all pretty clearly
8/4/2009 9:09:35 AM
8/4/2009 9:09:38 AM
im basing my opinion purely on these pictures and you can not see any gutters close to his place.you can see the curb but i would think w/out gutters that would be useless with a drive way having such an incline
8/4/2009 9:12:14 AM
if the gutters werent dumping the water on the foundation in the front of the house and routed the water anywhere else he'd have less of an issue
8/4/2009 9:14:32 AM
if there's curbing, there's gutters.
8/4/2009 9:15:11 AM
where the hell is he supposed to run the water from the gutters? up that ridiculous hill of a front yard he has?
8/4/2009 9:15:45 AM
^^^yeah, I think the gutter that dumps water into his driveway from his carport and then lets it run back into the house is causing the flooding. You can tell from the before pictures that the gutter and that portion of the driveway has always been like that, so the construction isn't causing it.[Edited on August 4, 2009 at 9:17 AM. Reason : ^he should have figured that out 20 years ago, because the road didn't change it]
8/4/2009 9:17:13 AM
you buy drain lines, in this case he gets some that are 30' long, bury them and route them around the side of the househell, with the car he's got parked in there he needs to get a french drain installed]
but if there is no gutter catching run off before the driveway then hes screwed
8/4/2009 9:17:55 AM
lot of damn uninformed opinions and speculation in here
8/4/2009 9:18:40 AM
opinions are like assholes i tell ya.
8/4/2009 9:19:14 AM
I thought this guy had a case, but he is just looking for a free lunch. He had "pre-existing" conditions before they did any road work.I hope they hang him by the balls for the sign ordinance violation.
8/4/2009 9:19:24 AM
I don't know why you folks are hatin' on the Prowler... I've always wanted one
8/4/2009 9:26:40 AM
i'm not sure how i feel about thiseven if he had problems with water before the construction, the changes are very likely contributing to them (again, they may not be the sole source of problems, but they may have been the tipping point)also, his house now looks even more like crap, due to the construction...who wants to buy a house down a hill like that? i'd be pissed, too
8/4/2009 9:27:26 AM
not hatin on his car, just saying if he can afford one he can afford to do the work to fix the house.in 36 days the city would own his house though...[Edited on August 4, 2009 at 9:28 AM. Reason : bettar]
8/4/2009 9:27:50 AM
^^^because you're a girl and you don't know how shitty they are. you make all your decisions upon emotion (ooooooo, this is preeeeeettyyyyy) and not cold hard facts (ewwww, this thing is shitty and slow)[Edited on August 4, 2009 at 9:28 AM. Reason : asdf]
8/4/2009 9:28:00 AM
when the town of Cary came through there and said "we're widening the road, here's what we're doing to your property" - did the guy get the option to sell the house to the city at that point? or was it just "we'll pay you X dollars and you'll be happy with that"?
8/4/2009 9:29:40 AM
if we just "give in" to his demands, another situation like this will happen again
8/4/2009 9:29:57 AM
the city would sooner pay for them doing the repair to correct water runoff then realize the guy could have done that in the first place and send him the bill
8/4/2009 9:30:59 AM
Wait, are you people actually siding with the Town of Cary?Don't get me wrong, I have lived in Cary my whole life and love it, but Cary needs to address this issue in a much different way. Fining someone back into the stone age just makes them seem like the overlords that they really are.
8/4/2009 9:32:07 AM
i don't think they'll buy his house under any circumstancesi can see them paying for a home inspection and proper drainage installation, thoughcary is not governed by a bunch of pushovers...they truly think they're better than everyone else
8/4/2009 9:32:31 AM
8/4/2009 9:34:04 AM
they have already offered to install a drainage system.he wants them to buy the house for above tax value and then pay him $80k pain and suffering
8/4/2009 9:36:49 AM
1. The road appears to be curb and gutter with raised driveway entrances, thus water isn't entering his property from the road, unless that road becomes a river (literally) during storm events.2. Runoff from his yard/driveway towards his house could be an issue for huge storm events3. His roof drains appear to be causing his problem. They are directed straight into his yard, which is sloping towards his house. Some landscape drain lines or french drains (depending on soils, unless he routes them subsurface) would do the trick4. It appears as though there is a rip-rap lined channel leading from his driveway to his house, though I can't tell for sure. If it is, he would need to route that to the side of the house or tie it into the french drains and route that, subsurface, to the side of the house and have it daylight there.5. It appears this guy sort of wants free lunch; water isn't his real issue, it's his loss of property. But hey, I'm only a water resources/stormwater EI, so what do I know? Cary will tell you how to paint your house, cut your lawn, tend to your pets, and which community pools you can join. Every minute detail has a guideline and a policy, even if it's not enforced. The Town of Cary prides itself on assimilating you to it's will. There is no alternative, you either conform, or you are bled dry of your real estate until you go bankrupt.[Edited on August 4, 2009 at 9:42 AM. Reason : -]
