Naw, they've never had a case of mad cow reported in Japan. But they love to go apeshit when mad cow is found anywhere else and completely ban imports of beef from that country. They've just started to lift the ban on US beef from when that mad cow was found in Washington.

Jerrys Grill on Whitaker Mill is the jam. Breakfast all day, hobo sandwhiches, and the best classic burger I've had in a while. They are open until three.

I love Finchs for breakfast.

Hot Point Cafe on Buck Jones is great. Innovative sandwhiches, burritos, and full glasses of wine.

Flying Saucers food is good for a bar.

Wildflour on Creedmoor. Real deep dish pizza. Although Lilys should be number 1 on your list.

Yeeees, I'm lovin' this last page of results.

I'm making a list. I'm going to have to do a food blog or something.

Another prompt: Best Dumplings OR Gyoza OR Empanadas OR Pierogi in town.

...because, you know, I want to eat three times my weight in carbs.

Best dumplings and gyoza are from Grand Asia Market in their cafeteria area. No lie. Also best ginger chicken and chaashuu pork. And the best pig ear

That is a good tip. I never would have thought to go there.

Best empanadas I have had are at Oakwood Cafe.

Used to be if you went there for lunch you could pick three things from the cafeteria and rice for $4. Super good deal. It's been awhile though so I would guess the price has gone up since last time I was there.

Just be warned they usually don't speak English and all the signs are in Chinese so you'll most likely be ordering blind. I only had one or two times where I picked something that was gross

Went to Raleigh Times with girlfriend and some mixed friends the other day on the heavy recommendation of TWW. Their burger really is great, and certainly more filling than PR's to say the least. Their fried green bean starter is also really good.

MOAR.

My dad took me to a sushi place in Brier Creek that has BOGO sushi rolls right now. It was really good too. Don't remember the name but it's across the parking lot from Earth Fare.

^ I ate there with my old boss a few months back. The food was good and the price was good. My only complaint was that their wasabi was weird. It tasted good, but the wasabi "mash" wasn't consistent in intensity. So you'd have this tiny piece of wasabi that would burn your face off, then a big glob of it that wasn't very spicy.

Still, it's awesome if you wanna eat something besides french fries and hamburgers on a college budget.

We went to Ole Timey Barbeque and I've probably found my home away from home. That was fantastic.

So, now I'm looking for the kind of place to eat you'd take a girlfriend or a loved one for a nice dinner--personally kind of leaning towards American, Locavore, mixed-genre type of place... but not going to be really demanding about that. Just give me some names where you'd take a girlfriend/boyfriend if you weren't going for just quick and cheap.

EDIT: Also, how about a good comfort food joint?

Bella Monica is a GREAT Authentic Italian place...wonderful for date nights or just a nice dinner with family and friends. The food is really really good, particularly the flatbreads..but the pasta and everything else I've had was great. Prices are probably in the medium range, maybe not for the lower college-budget. Last time I was there they didn't even have a sign with the name on it, just one that said "Pizza" I think. It's in the complex on Blue Ridge and Duraleigh, behind the Chargrill. I suggest trying it!

I'm regret putting "budget-friendly" in the name, because it's basically not at all what I'm asking for anymore.

So yea, don't forget any fucking expensive-as-hell places.

Speaking of expensive, I'm thinking about Bogart's and Poole's. Any recent trips there, folks?
