Yes I have been. Very nice city but not elite on the international level. Great nightlife but theres not much to do there besides drink, which is why they've gotten so damn good at it.

Did I say they never get sunlight? No. It is, however, notoriously cool and gloomy.

Ireland is on par with Seattle as far as rain days and in the winter they get an insanely low ammount of sun hours.

gloomier than london, the most notable "gloomy city"

their summers are gloomier than much of our winters.

gloomier than most of alaska...lol

Gloomy is also synonymous with depressing and dismal, so don't even try to act like you weren't dogging it in that aspect. You and I both know you weren't mainly referring to the "amount of sunlight they get." Rainy and cloudy =/= gloomy.

But whatev.. obviously you didn't look around much if you really think they only drink over there because there's not much else to do. Troll on and keep hatin

Haha, this is too funny. Kudos on the idea to try and change your argument but its too late. Poor execution. Unless of course you're going to try and convince us you posted a picture of a field with a sunrise and a gothic church (also with a sun glaring in it) with intent of portraying dublin as a happy place (as opposed to the depressing and dismal dublin you thought I was arguing for)

this is borderline pathetic considering the phrase you posted with those pictures
Quote :

Why would seperate days have anything to do with it if it wasn't clearly an argument of sunlight.

You were already wrong then when you were drowned in the facts you made a lame attempt to cop out and change the argument. Now you've gone and made yourself look dumb.

That was the whole point, dumbass. If I was advocating for them having cloudless skies why the hell would I post a picture of a sunSET (not a sunRISE) with a big ass gray cloud in it? Not to mention, the picture of St. Patrick's cathedral also had a big gray cloud in it. The whole point of putting they're from 2 separate days was to show that even though it rains a lot there, it's still beautiful and not dismal/depressing, which is what gloomy implies. To prove my point even further, this was taken on a day where there was no sunshine but yet it's still beautiful and calm looking, not GLOOMY:

As was this:

There are places that I've visited that I have no desire to return to.

Los Angeles
Anaheim
Florida
Columbia, SC
New Jersey
Myrtle beach
Detroit

it would be hard to pick cities...Obviously there are tons of cities I would never visit but its easier to list states:

Utah
Montana
Idaho (unless NCSU ever plays Boise, I wouldn't mind seeing us on the blue field)
either Dakota
Nebraska
Iowa

You do realize a sunrise and a sunset look exactly the same just on a different side of the sky, don't you?

Quote :
"beautiful and not dismal/depressing, which is what gloomy implies"

what you're talking about is based on opinion, but it isn't the main definition of gloomy anyway

Quote :
"1. Partially or totally dark, especially dismal and dreary: a damp, gloomy day"

both of those pictures are gloomy. you lose again and if you can't read the chart Dublin's noon sunshine fraction varies from ~35% in the summer to ~15% in the winter aka "hella weak" which makes it gloomy all year. The only reason it isn't frozen over completely is the gulf stream.

Quote :
"khcadwal said what i was going to say and but im adding a quote of someones list that proves they have never travelled

I've already said that the hating was based on silly prejudices and I'd like to go to every city in the world at some point. Its just hard to imagine those cities being unique at all.

Quote :
"yet you're the one who's the alias."

pretty much everyone is an alias. You are.

Quote :
"I don't like the climate... and that is VERY important to me. I don't mind high-humidity summers, but I don't want it to be like that all year long."

I don't even love 90 degrees, humid and thundershowers every other day which is Miami in the summer but pretty much everywhere else in the eastern half gets hotter than Miami and still has storms during the summer.

Its not like that all year long which is why Miami's population explodes in the winter. The whole area was founded on the premise that the richest of the rich could spend their winters there to stay happy and healthy in the perfect weather. Now some people enjoy cold and I won't take that from them. If you like cold then I can understand you not liking Miami but I think its fair to say most people prefer 75 degree Miami winters.

I like Cali's climate the best but South Florida's winters are right up there with it.

What's funny is that I never listed it in my original list. I only brought it up because you wouldn't shut the fuck up about Miami and for some reason you always mention how I went to Ireland (such as going "just for Guinness") so I figured I'd make it easy on you that time and joke about how I'd rather be in Dublin than Miami.

Gah you suck at life.

because you made such a big hubub about your trip to ireland and how the passport fiasco could've ruined it only to drink guinness when you finally got there. That was CLASSIC. As a major promoter of the city, you sure as hell don't know what to do there.

I wasn't "wouldn't shutup about miami" I was commenting in the thread and trying to clarify if people who siad Miami meant the city of miami which has some of the least desireable places in the US or the general area refereed to Miami that has some of the most desireable bunch of places in the US.

Then you went and tried to say Dublin wasn't gloomy

If mambagrl is an alias, then I would like to argue about Miami. I typically don't want to go to warmer climates in the winter (I'm a skiier, so I don't care to use my winter vacation time going places with similar climates to where I live for 3/4 of the year) and Florida is HORRIFIC in the summer. Blah, blah, blah.

If mambagrl is the chick in it's photo gallery, then I agree with her 100%.

Thats a really cool feature. I wish it was on every site because I've been owned at another message board and it often haunts me because the owner still mocks me about it. Sure its a bit cowardly but it can help keep us in our right mind when things go horribly wrong. Not enough knowledge on this site for me to find it useful here, though.
