(2) gay marriage, like hetero marriage, is about two consenting adults mutually agreeing to spend their lives together.

whereas you -- a grown man of almost 30 -- fucking an 18 year old kid and calling it a "relationship" is about a power differential that you're exploiting because you're too insecure to stand interaction with your own peers.

I'd say that if you like her than it could be good for long or short term. There's no guarantee that a relationship with a 29 year old woman will go smoothly either. And if this does go long term, when you're 50 and shes 39, it will still be a good deal.

What about this:

Background: Im 25

The situation: Was at the gym, got into a conversation with this pretty cute girl (who I initially read as ~22). We end up deciding on grabbing dinner sometime. About 10 minutes into the dinner, the age question comes up. She drops a '19' all over the dinner table. Wasnt sure how to react really, just mentioned I would have guessed older by her looks, she said she was guessing younger by my looks. Anyways, dinner was fine and it was a friday, so we decided we may as well do something (a movie) instead of doing nothing since I think we had originally blocked the night off to hang out. But I assumed the age thing, and was pretty much in agreement, was too much.

Now: after 2 weeks or so, we end up hanging out again at my place. Nothing happened but it was another fun hangout. Texted around last night, she still seems like shes OK to hang out but when we do, there are always awkward age comments back and forth.

So whats the deal? Does she actually just enjoy hanging out? Trying to get some tube steak? If I decided to suck it up and go for it, how does one every go about it. The age thing is totally weirding me out. Id need to be pretty hosed to make a move.

Thoughts?

If I'm the father of an 18 year old girl one day, and she's seeing a 29 year old dude, I'm going to automatically assume that there is something terribly wrong with that dude. He either never developed some integral social elements himself, he never had much success dating in high school, or he just can't let go of the prospect of having a spritely fuck tart around him, and nothing more.

I wouldn't fault my 18 year old daughter. 18 year olds of any gender are generally absolutely clueless.
