Look. No movie is scary unless, to some extent, you want to be scared. So for you people who are brash tough guys and insist that nothing can scare you... you're right, this isn't going to be scary. But you're going into the movie with the wrong mentality for a horror flick. Of course it's not real, it's just a movie, but you have to be willing to suspend your disbelief and buy into the premise somewhat instead of viewing it from a totally clinical perspective and checking off a list of all the things that couldn't really happen or aren't cinematically perfect. That kind of mentality only contributes further to filmmakers resorting to cheap gimmicks and "unexpected shit jumping out at you" scare tactics to try and get some reaction from everyone.

^I completely agree, trust me, I was on the edge of my seat most of the movie. Def. one of the best scary movies I've seen in a long time.

I haven't seen it yet. I just get tired of all the hooligans who come out of the woodwork to swing their dicks around about how nothing can scare them, when in actuality they're doing it wrong. I feel sorry that people like that will waste their money on a movie ticket, and the only satisfaction they'll get out of it is a boost to their e-peen on a message board.

my roommate has a sub in his room that is makes this low pitched hum JUST LIKE THE DEMON NOISE FROM THIS MOVIE

It's not hooked up or something, and constantly makes this noise. I shit a brick last night when I heard it.

Way over-hyped and a waste of money. I was highly disappointed.

Interesting note, as of last night, not even a week into the nationwide-distribution, Paranormal Activity had 35mil in the box office off a movie that took 15k to produce. What it pulls in over this second week we'll have to see, but it's a very nice revenue indeed.

I liked it. Wasn't scary, though. More interesting than anything.

i loved it and thought it was scary. i thought the dude in the movie was an insanely good actor. if it was any less real looking all of the scariness would have gone right out the window.

It was pretty god damn funny and entertaining.

It made me feel sick though, since we sat near the front. Camera work a lot like Cloverfield. Guess that's what I get for making fun of the girls who moved because they were too close and would vomit

ill tell you what

despite being absolutely taken out of the movie by a theater of talking, laughing stupid people

i'm a lil creeped out right now

course it could be the fox that just stared me down outside

I'm kind of sad that the general audience that everyone is seeing it with is full of such idiots. With a psychological thriller it's almost impossible to get the full effect of the movie if you go into it with a negative mindset (of course, a lot of that is just tough guys around here). This worsens when you get the kind of douchebags in your theatre that negate fright with laughter and attempts at undermining the film, which just throws everything off. The crowds that went during the 12-threatre showings were pretty dedicated horror fans, and it was something they were looking forward to enjoy. It really makes a difference.

pretty much

i mean i can deal with talking during most movies

but in a movie that relies on quiet and tension build up

naw they killed it

although the two girls who ran screaming out of theater kind of made up for it

but not really
