If his views on science funding were followed all along, they probably coulden't have saved him.

I see quotes like this all the time, but they don't make sense. If he is the top rated radio talk show host then, by definition, he is part of the mainstream media. I don't know how he is still able to present himself as an underdog, other than the fact that his listeners are not those that like to look at both sides (i.e. not critical thinkers).

Before Rush, et. al., it would have been considered journalistically irresponsible, and an insult to the to listeners, to rail on for three hours a day with a onesided opinion - never presenting an opposing view. I know, those that listen say he does it just to counter the "mainstream media", but then again, he is the mainstream media.

not really, they'd probably do the same for any other celebrity (a or b list), some institutions still value privacy

^^ Of course I don't consider Rush a journalist. He is an "entertainer" or a "commentator". That's is why he doesn't have to deal the principal of "journalistic integrity".

An article from 1994:

Pst. Quite a few of the stuff present in that article is still being spewed today.

If Obama had visited him, the shock would have certainly sent him over.

As it stands, he'll probably survive, and thank everything he knows and loves that Obama's health care plan hasn't yet gotten the chance to kill him.
