wow, judging someone's character based on one drink that they ordered? seriously?

I DRINK RED WINE, I'M A SNOB.
I DRINK PBR, I'M A HIPSTER.
I DRINK JACK DANIELS, I'M A REDNECK.

what a fucking joke.

Years of research.

You might get that 20% tip...but I've never got hooked up from someone ordering multiple jagerbombs. I'm not judging the person...I'm just telling you that they're more than likely not going to tip well.

I'm guessing you're a collar-popping homosexual based on the fact that you researched tipping trends based on the drinks ordered.

Well then, that explains why you're so bitter.

You're a fucking bartender.
And I still think you're a collar-popping homosexual.

Get me a beer, and make it snappy kid.

i actually agree on drink-based profiling. i worked service industry for 10 years on and off - people getting 'bombed' don't remember* to tip.
that's why you auto gratuity the check

^^that's a gross generalization

If I'm tanked at a bar, you're more likely to get a very large tip.

^^I'd say it has more to do with the bar you work at than the type of drink. Unless you've worked at a lot of bars. Then I could just be flat wrong.

Quote :
"First...you're ordering a jagerbomb. You just turn 21?? Second, that's what you get for being a fag and ordering sugar free red bull. You should have gotten charged double the regular price"

I love jagerbombs. I don't often order them when I'm out (don't really order shots when out b/c of the cost) but I'm not a stingy tipper, regardless of whether or not I get jagerbombs.

I tip better when I'm drunk, just an FYI.

I've started many a night with a jager bomb, simply because I was tired and wanted some Red Bull. AND I ALWAYS TIP AT LEAST 20%.

I just blew your little bartender mind, I know.

i used to work at east village and have no problem getting people drunk and providing great service but cmon man 3 trays of shots later no one remembers how they got here, let alone how to get home, or tipping the nice guy that got you drunk. please don't stop tipping good on my account - i haven't worked in the service industry in quite sometime, maybe the whole world evolved and now ncsu kids don't form into roving mobs getting chased off by the cops. besides, i am biased to the ncsu area - 1000's of kids with a $20 bill and a meal card.

I tip really well at White Collar Crime because the bartenders there are awesome.

everywhere else the tip decreases as the time I have to wait for a drink increases.

^I had shit service there last Saturday night, though I think it was b/c 3 of my friends were dancing on the bar at the time...

I usually tip $1 per drink/shot...its pretty standard across the board for me unless your service really sucks.

I'm probably the least bitter bartender you'll find for someone who's been doing it 5+ years. I'm an attorney now, but still bartend a few shifts a week until I take over my boss's practice. I still make enough in three shifts bartending to pay all my bills for the month. But I'll still get you a beer.

And I've bartended at a swanky wine bar, a trendy tapas/sake/wine bar, college/burrito bar, and three beach bars. I've worked at bars where I kick out 5 underage kids a night and bars where you've never thought twice to check anybody's ID and you've got 5 American Express black cards with open tabs. I've worked at bar that had the best DJ in town every Friday and Saturday night, a bar that had a jazz trio three nights out of the week, and a bar now that has loud bands 5 nights out of the week. The only age group that I haven't consistently served is blue hairs...besides that, I've seen it ALL.

I'll say it again...I'm not judging you. But I pretty much know that if someone comes up and says, "I need 4/5/6/7/etc jagerbombs", then I know I'll be lucky to get 20%. I'm not saying they are bad people. I'm saying that they won't be happy when they get their receipt and see how much a jagerbomb is and how their tab jumped that high with the bartender not doing that much work. So they probably won't reward me with a big tip. I'm okay with it...I get my money from everybody else.

hatin' itt.

I can handle slow service, I can handle incorrect orders, hell, I can even handle outright forgetting to get me whatever

What I don't do, however, is a bitch/douchey attitude or jacking up prices (even for sugar free red bull, bitches)....Thats when the tip takes a dive.

and judging by some of the "service industry people" posts, I don't doubt they get bad tips quite often.

I'm perfectly fine with a 20% tip.

But I work at a bar where at the end of the night, I average out 30-35% tips.

And I don't get bad tips because of shitty service or a bad attitude...I get bad tips when people are shitty tippers.

Ha. I was being a little sarcastic. But seriously...people don't wait to get drinks at my bar. And if I'm averaging 30-35% tips...then there aren't too many people getting bad service.

Please tell me where you work. I would like to spend a night drinking at your bar.

Lol...20% on 4-7 jagerbombs is going to be $6.00-$12.00. Not bad for fixing one round of drinks for one of your customers if you ask me. Seems like that would be the type of thing you should hope for as it's a lot more efficient than making different types of drinks with different ingredients and selling them one at a time.

I always feel bad when I order a $1.50 PBR and give them $2 and tell them to keep the change. I generally will tip $1 per drink, unless it's PBR and I just tip 50 cents. But hell it's like a 33% tip, so bam.

^ This is why you give them three bucks, keep the fifty cents, and when you get the next one you have a buck in change.

I work across from Poe's (on Sullivans) where Bert's Bar use to be (closed about 3 years ago).

Although I did work for like a month at the Windjammer, it was the first food and beverage job I got in Charleston...but I left for a better job at a bar opening out on Folly.

and yea sometimes i got annoyed with customers but i didn't let it show. unless they puked in the bar or did something else idiotic. then i'd regulate.

when i left the owner told me that i was only allowed to quit if i could find 3 more people just like me to replace me
