Obviously, nothing if your so pissed about the calls.

6/21/2010 1:52:28 PM
hahaha...asshole. I will take that. [Edited on June 21, 2010 at 1:54 PM. Reason : I have the worst feet and stamina ever. Soccer is not a good fit.]
6/21/2010 1:52:42 PM
^^^Not pissed, just annoyed that there isn't more effort to get the calls correct. That should be the primary concern of officials and of the competition committees that exist within governing bodies for each sport. What could be more important than getting the call correct?

im surprised at how many people are arguing soccer is not insanely athletic
6/21/2010 1:56:10 PM
6/21/2010 1:56:32 PM
I think most Umps are pretty solid when it comes to maintaining their strike zone. Anyway it's always fun to bitch about calls. Though when Umps don't call lowzone pitches I get pissed.
6/21/2010 1:57:35 PM
Sure they're usually ok about maintaining it, but the problem is that you don't know what you're getting from one ump to the next. Even worse is the "expansion of the strike zone" from side to side that guys like Glavine were so famous for. It's not his fault, he just hit his spots. It's on the ump to make sure that the fucking pitch crosses some portion of the plate in order for it to be a strike.

soccer fans get their panties in such a wad when people criticize their sport. Nascar gets just as much criticism as soccer and nascar fans don't get their panties wadded. if this thread was about nascar drivers being pussies or about golfers being pussies it would be about 5 posts and then dead. continue your ranting please!
6/21/2010 2:02:45 PM
when did lafta change his story from taking a "beating" to most athletic? the real question is who is going to win in a fight? a football team or a soccer team?soccer is like track with a ball and net, great you can run far. I've heard so many pussy soccer players bring up that football players wear pads; yet like I showed in a year almost 5x more Football players had neck injuries than soccer players. http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/news/20050420/neck-injury-most-common-with-football

and to all the basketball guys, a wrestling team has way more endurance training than soccer or basketball.
6/21/2010 2:11:54 PM
^^as opposed to soccer players, who stand around waiting for inbounds passes, corner kicks, goal kicks, penalty shots...or who stand around when the ball is on the opposite end of the field...and who also have a halftime breakthe myth that soccer players "run for 90 minutes" is so much exaggerated bullshit]
6/21/2010 2:13:15 PM
6/21/2010 2:14:16 PM
So guysHave we decided who's right?I need to know if I can watch the next match
6/21/2010 2:14:32 PM
I haven't read the thread, but I would like to add:Rip Hamilton can run 9 miles in 45 minutesthat's a 5 minute mile, 9 times, back to backthat's 12 mph.Son.

going airborne in football has been illegal for a looooooong time
6/21/2010 2:15:21 PM
^^did you miss the part where i used to run 10 miles a day when i ran track? oooh, running around for 45 minutes, wow i could never do that, even when i used to run for and hour and a half straight every day after school
6/21/2010 2:16:49 PM
6/21/2010 2:17:58 PM
Am I the only one I has pulled a complete 180 and now agree with Twista because of his sound logic and brilliant analogies on the subject? I doubt it. Persuasive guy, that one.

6/21/2010 2:19:22 PM
haha yea cause receivers are always the ones getting injured btw I never went airborne in football[Edited on June 21, 2010 at 2:21 PM. Reason : .]
6/21/2010 2:20:07 PM
soccer players run more during a soccer game than bball players during a bball game, no dispute herei'm pointing out that soccer players don't "sprint for 90 minutes" or whatever else some of the people defending soccer like to insinuate
6/21/2010 2:20:29 PM
lots of running doesn't prevent soccer from being incredibly boring to watch
6/21/2010 2:21:05 PM
lol @ most injuries = toughest
6/21/2010 2:21:31 PM
he was saying taking a beating, what would you like to compare it to?
6/21/2010 2:22:20 PM
yo, tl;dr the only sports worth watching are hockey and curling
6/21/2010 2:22:24 PM
Gridiron football would have less injuries if they didn't wear pads. Those pads are like boxing gloves, where the point of them isn't to protect, it's to soften the blow so instead of one harsh blow it's a continuous wear down over the course of decades that causes the brain to turn into toothpaste.
6/21/2010 2:23:13 PM
Anecdotal evidence is used to make points in this thread, correct?Anyway, I played hockey and baseball through high school. I never had a serious injury playing hockey. I had and still have a partially shredded ulner collateral ligament in my right elbow from baseball. Therefore, baseball is a tougher sport than hockey.[Edited on June 21, 2010 at 2:24 PM. Reason : x]
6/21/2010 2:23:35 PM
hockey isn't as widely played, pretty obvious.however soccer is played way more in the world than any other sport, yet can't even come close.
6/21/2010 2:25:02 PM
6/21/2010 2:26:18 PM
Yeah, I played soccer for about 7 years and never got an injury. I might've scraped my knee once. I played football casually for about a year and came out of that with 3 serious injuries including one 'career' ending one.Soccer is a pussy sport.
6/21/2010 2:27:07 PM
yep injuring your spine is all about mental toughness
6/21/2010 2:27:10 PM
6/21/2010 2:27:15 PM
the risk of spinal injury is much higher in hockey than football
6/21/2010 2:27:47 PM
why are we arguing about hockey? lets get back to trashing soccer
6/21/2010 2:28:46 PM
I don't disagree, not arguing hockey is less dangerous than football....
6/21/2010 2:28:55 PM
basically football sucks is my only point here
6/21/2010 2:29:36 PM
6/21/2010 2:30:14 PM
