^^I have no idea. I just know what I saw in the locution dispatch that I shared above.Sometimes you get a lot of info in the locution dispatch, other times not so much. ^lollers. he probably did.
8/20/2010 10:34:32 PM
yeah i was leaving my girl friends house and saw some emergency vehicles was in a hurry so i didn't rubberneckguess i should have
8/20/2010 10:36:50 PM
Normally RWECC only gives basic info in the body retrieval pages to WC7. The person(s) onboard manning WC7 can get more info via cell or wait till they get on scene. In totally unrelated news DEA Raleigh agents won't shut up on their radios this evening.
8/20/2010 10:41:08 PM
Still trying to figure out this call dispatched seconds ago:

Call from earlier this afternoon:
8/27/2010 4:47:28 PM
lolI understand alcohol related shooting mistakes like that, but how does a sober person shoot themselves in the arm?
8/27/2010 7:12:00 PM
a few hours ago I was hangin out on the porch at my friend's place across from Jack Daniels on Jones Franklinwe see this liquorcycle with 2 guys on it, no helmets, going down the road with an RPD behind, lighting them up they pull over right down the road and then evidently try to run, because we hear 3 more patrol cars come screaming down Jones FranklinI got my scanner app running in time to hear them say both guys were intoxicated, one wearing a carolina shirt (no surprise there) and on the run with the scooterthere's still cops roaming around that area (Jones Franklin at Athens drive)... I wonder if they ever caught these two dumbfucks
8/27/2010 8:16:48 PM
Ahahahhahahaahaahhahahaha^
8/27/2010 8:42:45 PM
something was going down in Cary earlier near Crossroads. Sheriffs and Helicopters in the area. Couldn't pick up anything on the scanner though

9/5/2010 9:29:48 PM
I go on radioreference.com and plug in the frequencies to my Yaesu ham radio and listen. Franklin county is pretty boring most of the time, but I live right next to a fire station, so anytime I hear sirens I hit up the radio to see where dey goin.Still tryin to find the SHP frequency tho...
9/6/2010 5:04:22 AM
SHP operates on the VIPER trunked systemhttp://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=4087
9/6/2010 11:28:39 AM
^ and ^^ jtw is right. SHP is on VIPER. And anyone on VIPER requires at the very least an analog trunking scanner and more than likely a digital capable trunking scanner as soon SHP will be migrating from their analog talkgroups to digital talkgroups. As we speak I have one of my radios just Monitoring SHP Troop C (Central NC) on VIPER. Yes, the old lowband VHF freqs (42.xxxMhz) still simulcast the Dispatcher side of 800Mhz VIPER traffic (Raleigh is 42.600Mhz) but you will need to monitor VIPER to hear any Trooper replies to Dispatch radio traffic.

A (Uniden Radio) family pic....That's 2 of the new Uniden Home Patrol (homepatrol.com) with a Uniden BCD396XT & BCD996XT in the middle.Sadly the Home Patrol on the left has to be sent back to Uniden to be *sob, sob, sniff* destroyed due to the fact it isnot FCC Type Accepted. The one on the right is my final production unit which will travel out and about with me daily with the 396XT.
9/28/2010 9:48:54 PM
I know I am probably the only one who ever reads this thread anymore But saw an ad for the Uniden HomePatrol in the latest issue of Popular Science: Feel good that I was able to help Uniden bring this product to market [Edited on October 3, 2010 at 8:37 PM. Reason : spellin dangit]
10/3/2010 8:37:07 PM
i read this thread everytime its bumped. i also listen to my scanner app on my droid just about everyday. im gonna be one of those old people
10/3/2010 8:53:57 PM
I have a trunking scanner.... It was a blast listening when I was up in Raleigh..Having moved to South Carolina for grad school, lets just say this state is less uhhhhh "advanced" than NC.. It's sorta boring listening down here.
10/3/2010 9:33:16 PM
Just for the heck of it a shot of the bedside radio collection.Big Base unit is Uniden 895XLT, Black Radio on top is Uniden BCD996XT, Handheld Uniden BCD396XT, Grey base unit on bottom right is Radio Shack Pro 2037 with the Uniden HomePatrol 1 on top rounding things out.
10/3/2010 9:39:24 PM
^^ Bigun60 you gotta know where to listen SC has 2 "Palmetto 800" statewide trunking systems. One has been around for years and another new P25 digital system is just beingbuilt out across the state. Older system:http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=429Newer P25 Digital system:http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=5042I agree that NC is the better place to monitor comms though
10/3/2010 9:50:43 PM
has anything of substance ever come from people listening to these things? seems like it kinda just a way to pass time. Not hating, if this is your hobby then fine, go for it
10/3/2010 10:19:19 PM
^ How about a side job for me being a public safety communications consultant? One of my first clients was someone I have kept in touch with to this day and that is the President & CEO of Wake Med Bill Atkinson....have programmed many radios for him over the last decade or so...he is a good person to be able to add to a resume Other clients have consisted of other local PDs, Fire & EMS personnel, Media organizations (TV & Radio), and other contacts that will continue to be both beneficial in both business and friendships. Oh and the guy who invented Radioreference.com (the largest source of radio info online), Lindsay Blanton, is set for life. All this from a little ol' website that started out as Trunkedradio.net many years ago as a hobby for him has made him andhis family very safe for many years to come. So, yes, like many other hobbies, radio monitoring can be very lucrative both personally and professionally.
10/3/2010 10:38:31 PM
^^get the news before it is on the news (and hear about things the news probably feels like not reporting on)I mean, I think knowing what is going on around you is a healthy thing[Edited on October 3, 2010 at 10:40 PM. Reason : ^]
10/3/2010 10:38:47 PM
i think its kinda cool to see whats going on. i hear shit that i dont see on the news/internet all the time
10/3/2010 10:40:06 PM
^ +1 to Biofreak. There is that aspect of it too. Kind of like a live version of the "Cops" tv show. I have heard it all from funny stuff, to sad stuff to the WTF stuff. There is never a dull evening in Central NC anymore.
10/3/2010 10:41:19 PM
And so ya can't say I never gave ya anything....Here is a pdf file showing all of the NCSHP Trooper "Post" locations around the fairgrounds for the upcoming NC State Fair:http://qsl.net/ke4znr/NCFair/NCSHPStateFairPost.pdf
10/3/2010 10:49:38 PM
One more file...doc file showing how SHP radio callsigns are given out:http://qsl.net/ke4znr/NCFair/NCSHPCallsigns.doc
10/3/2010 10:56:46 PM
side job...nice, didnt see that coming, see you learn something every day, the rest of this stuff still sounds like a hobby, once again not hating, and i need a hobby so i might look into this
10/3/2010 11:00:50 PM
^^doesnt work for me
10/3/2010 11:07:21 PM
See about there being boring stuff going on here, and cool stuff up in NC....Biggest thing I've heard in the last little while.... There's a fox in the Dunkin Doughnuts parking lot.....
10/3/2010 11:41:04 PM
Using that radio reference site, how do I get a hold of the state wide talkgroups, like Highway Patrol?
10/3/2010 11:52:58 PM
^bigun60: if you are looking for the NCSHP then they are part of the Statewide VIPER system:http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=4087They are still using the analog talkgroups for the time being. Before spring of next yearthey will switch over to the digital talkgroups listed below the analog talkgroups.Wake (C3) & Johnston (C6) Counties are completely transitioned over to 800MhzVIPER.
