Because if you can't you're stupider than some guy who read that poll and Googled up a map so he can feel better than you.

8/25/2010 5:16:27 PM
if I wanted to know where a country was I would look on a map, not memorize one for later
8/25/2010 5:16:38 PM
if i wanted to know what 2 x 2 was, i'd look on a multiplication table, not memorize one for later
8/25/2010 5:18:24 PM
you guys should contact the elders of cartography and tell them to stop using names because people should just know them ]
8/25/2010 5:21:31 PM
you should realize that having a 1st grader's awareness of geography when it relates to major current events is not an affront to the general usefulness of maps with names on them[Edited on August 25, 2010 at 5:26 PM. Reason : .]

How many Afghans believe in evolution? How many even have a good enough understanding of it to have an opinion on whether or not it is real?Yeah, I thought so. Count your blessings and just be the best person you can be. Attempting to ridicule those less intelligent or less educated than yourself just makes you look trite.
8/25/2010 5:41:06 PM
^^ yeah, the article is rather annoying, actually
8/25/2010 5:41:51 PM
Dude, I believe in ghosts and I really want to see oneMy cousin has stories about a ouija board that make me all and jealous at the same time
8/25/2010 5:43:25 PM
yeah, if forced to bet on it, I'd bet on the existence of ghostsI ain't in no hurry to meet any, though]

8/25/2010 5:46:38 PM
your point, it makes no senseI'm not an overbearing, intolerant ChristianI'm intolerant of intolerance, sure, but I don't think that qualifies as hypocrisy
8/25/2010 5:52:24 PM
^ Thinking that someone's beliefs are stupid doesn't make you intolerant. It may make you a bit judgmental. I would say that nearly everyone in my family identifies as a Christian, and I don't say anything to them. I know many people who believe in Christianity, and I say nothing to them as long as they don't try to convert me. If they ask me if I'm a Christian, I will be honest to them, but I won't take it any further.I still think their beliefs are stupid, just like witches/warlocks/ghosts/Santa/Easter Bunny/ect.My attitude is that if Newsweek is going to conduct polls on people's beliefs, whether factual, based on theory, or nothing more than belief, then they should have included how many people believe in God. But they won't do that. It will obviously upset most of their readers, even though many of them will think the people who believe in witches/warlocks think that those people are stupid, when quite frankly, their own beliefs are just as ridiculous. Had they left off evolution/witches/warlocks, I probably wouldn't have asked why they didn't do one for the number of people who believe in God.But again. I think you're a hypocrite, as you come off as nothing more than some uppity Christian who gets offended if someone questions the actual existence of God or if they think that such beliefs are stupid.
8/25/2010 6:05:18 PM
Newsweek didn't conduct the polls they merely cited studies by other groupsway to read the articleyet another indignant asshole who didn't do the reading!
8/25/2010 6:06:31 PM
^ I actually did read it, but it was yesterday. However, it seems as though the OP didn't read the article.
8/25/2010 6:10:40 PM

8/25/2010 6:19:57 PM
^^ Actually, that's not the case at all.[Edited on August 25, 2010 at 6:21 PM. Reason : But thanks for your input. ]
8/25/2010 6:21:33 PM
Yes it is. You're welcome.
8/25/2010 6:25:05 PM
I believe that modern day humans evolved from witches and warlocks
8/25/2010 6:39:57 PM
^^^^ So why are you not getting upset at Newsweek for blatantly calling these people stupid because of their beliefs?
8/25/2010 7:07:07 PM
8/25/2010 7:09:38 PM
is it too late to burn the witches and warlocks at the stake?[Edited on August 25, 2010 at 7:28 PM. Reason : mmmm.]

.39 * .21 * .41 * .20 * .18 * 300,000,000 = 362,653people believe Obama is a muslim warlock (who did not evolve from a less powerful warlock) who was involved in 9/11 and revolves around the Earth.
8/25/2010 8:19:32 PM
^ that’s assumes that each group is a subsection of the other groups.
8/25/2010 8:21:44 PM
no it doesn't, it just assumes that the groups are all independent, ya fuckin' idiotdon't talk about shit you don't know aboutfor real, you're one of the most consistently stupid people on TWW
8/25/2010 8:27:07 PM
Why does believing in ghosts make him an idiot?

^^ That's exactly what I thought about when I read this thread.
8/25/2010 9:53:19 PM
I'm here to post something that kinda hangs in the middle of this whole debacle. Those videos Bill posted, could easily opt in for Bush voter testimonies. Easily. Every side has its absolutely, criminally ignorant dipshits.I'll bet you 95% of the people in the States believe W is from Texas.People just don't like to investigate anything beyond what MSNBC/Fox/NBC/CBS convey.it's just too hard.Americans ARE ignorant. But we're infinitely lazier than we are ignorant. We're damn near ignorant by choice.
8/25/2010 10:28:01 PM
I think what shocked me the most from that list is that almost half of americans did not know that judiasm is older that christianity.
8/25/2010 11:03:22 PM
really? that doesn't shock me in the least.75% of "Christians" couldn't tell you what Judaism is.I can't back that up factually, but I'd place a safe bet on it.[Edited on August 25, 2010 at 11:06 PM. Reason : I'm sure actual practicing Christians could. And theologists.]
8/25/2010 11:06:28 PM
I bet a healthy number of those people know perfectly well that Judaism is older than Christianitybut they nevertheless said that Christianity is older, because they believe Christ has been around since the beginning of time, or something like thatreally giving this answer because they don't want to give Judaism priority over Christianity in anythingI've known plenty of people whom I wouldn't put this past]
