Its simple. Andre Brown was on the team that year.

Watching the games, there was a lot more to it than that. He started trying to fit in passes that he previously wouldn't.
7/6/2011 11:47:33 AM
He also wasn't as elusive after that knee injury vs Rutgers.
7/6/2011 12:07:42 PM
bullshit. tob just tried to make him a pocket passer and admitted so on the radio.
7/6/2011 12:13:38 PM
so then, it wasn't as simple as Andre Brown.
7/6/2011 12:23:43 PM
I'm not saying TOB didn't try and turn him into more of a pocket passer, just that it was obvious that Russell wasn't quite the same runner after that knee injury.
7/6/2011 12:24:33 PM
I heard Russell say on the radio that it was his idea to punt at Clemson
7/6/2011 12:29:27 PM
i heard russell say that he taught the punters how to make 6 yard punts.
7/6/2011 3:56:23 PM
I don't think that's something that can be taught. that takes straight up skill

same
8/15/2011 12:04:22 PM
yeah... not entirely sure how i feel about it. i guess i wish wilson the best.
8/15/2011 12:48:45 PM
I mean, if he kicks ass it will make State look like some goofy hillbillies (even if it shouldnt, it will though) but I wish him the best
8/15/2011 12:54:32 PM
I get to be a Badger fan for one season.
8/15/2011 12:58:13 PM
i don't give a shit about russel wilson right now
8/15/2011 12:59:51 PM
Jaybee1200 hated RW until he went to another school. It's just as stupid for state fans to pull against him now.
8/15/2011 1:09:06 PM
I'm pulling for him. However, i'd rather he not win the heisman, because that would make me feel conlflicted inside. So i hope he has a 'good' to 'very good' season. But not 'great'.
8/15/2011 1:16:53 PM
I think it would be interesting if he had a statistically comparable season to this past year, if only to look at how playing for a different school and all other things being equal changes perception of him as a player, awards, press, etc.
8/15/2011 1:19:51 PM
Doesn't matter what Wilson does so long as Glennon has a good season. He can win the Heisman and go 14-0 -- neither of those things were possible at State. We're a fringe top-25 team with him, and an others receiving votes team without him. Most State fans should wish him well, but realize his season in no way affects ours. Jaybee probably gets that, but we know what he's up to here.
8/15/2011 1:23:11 PM
Ernie, would your head explode if I said I didnt want Russell to do well because he plays in the Big 10 and against my Buckeyes this year?
8/15/2011 1:32:06 PM
We'll look silly if we go less than 8-3 this year. As long as we do that, though, I can't see Wilson hurting our image at all.
8/15/2011 1:32:11 PM
^x6 what? show me how/where I "hated" RW. Must be nice to be so fucking ignorant that you can just totally make shit up and make yourself believe it.^^^ I said it SHOULDN'T, so yes, I totally agree with you, but I am just saying nationally, to people that don't follow NC State every day, its going to look bad. Didnt say I agree with it, just saying that is how it will be, right or wrong.[Edited on August 15, 2011 at 1:37 PM. Reason : f]

About the 10th time you posted that same concept regarding the nation's take. (I agree with you, though)
8/15/2011 2:20:10 PM
cause someone mentioned how they would feel if he blows up at Wisconsin... was giving my opinion
8/15/2011 3:09:43 PM
8/16/2011 12:47:00 AM
Jason White was the best out of QBs who got 5 minutes to find a receiver on every play.
8/16/2011 1:49:14 AM
Also, I thought it would be impossible for a player to come in the fall, pick up an offense, develop chemistry with new receivers, earn the respect of a team, and beat out the longtime backup for a starting spot.I guess some schools want to win championships and others want to salute the middling middle manager.

To be fair, I sincerely hope Glennon is better than Budmayr
8/16/2011 10:44:51 AM

I hope RW wins a national championship and the Heismanthen UNC fans can get pissed that Bunting recruited him, but that UNC elected to stick with Paulus
8/16/2011 11:01:50 AM
i'm pulling for RW this year...untill we play wisconsin in the nat'l champ game

^but even if he did commit early and say that he was coming back in the fall, not being favrian, TOB still would have started Glennon because he did spring and summer stuff right?
8/16/2011 1:48:41 PM
i don't think that he would, no. that's why i stand by TOB's decision; you can't let a dude sit back and hold the program hostage.if he had committed right away to coming back in the fall, then i would have a much harder time w/ it, and i think TOB's decision would've been to keep wilson. so i guess thanks to RW for being a jerk about it.]
8/16/2011 1:51:06 PM
^, ^^ and yet:
8/16/2011 2:40:19 PM
I think TOB and RW both did what was best for themselves. It's clear why TOB made his decision, and it was the correct one. I also don't fault RW for wanting to start somewhere. RW obviously wants to be a 2-sport star on the professional level, but he had to be cautious and not burn too many bridges in the pro baseball world. I disagree with some of the recent sentiment ITT; I for one don't see how any Wolfpack fan could not pull for Russell Wilson. He was always a humble, hard working, team-first guy who never boasted and always represented NCSU extremely well. He never complained or talked crap after his departure, and has never uttered a negative word about NCSU. He's a class act and I, for one, wish him nothing but success, especially since that success has no real bearing on our season now that the decision has been made.
8/16/2011 3:11:41 PM
^ Wise one here.
8/16/2011 3:13:24 PM
^^while i almost agree with everything you said, and from everything i saw, RW did and does to be a great person, but he did make a few statements afterward that i thought were out of character and a tad classless. but it's water under the bridge, and i look forward to watching him have a succesful season at Wisconsin.

Jason white had the best stats, but he had a ridiculous offensive line.If a player puts up stats that are comparable to his, but they do it with a worse offensive line, then that player is better than jason white. You really need to normalize the stats by the time the player has in the pocket.---Anyways, there is no mystery over what TOB should have done with RW. Just do what you did last year or do what Wisconsin is doing now.In sports, in life, and in work, my-way-or-the-highway is a sign of poor leadership. Being inflexible is a sign of poor leadership. Losing exceptional talent is the poor leadership. Losing talent is in fact the worst thing a leader can do, since recruiting has the biggest impact on organizations. The excuses why RW should not have been allowed to swoop in during the fall are complete bullshit. New receivers (as is the case at Wisconsin)? Take extra time after practice to work on it. Earning respect of teammates? Winning earns respect. Demonstrating that you are better than the backup (Glennon or the Wisconsin QB) earns respect. Performance earns far more respect than hanging out.The people who bring up these BS excuses are the types who foolishly limit their options by approaching everything as black and white. People who are actually successful look for creative ways to solve problems and maximize the talent at their disposal.TOB was a middle manager and a process drone in the military, and he takes that same approach to running a FB team. Creativity doesn't come into play. That poor leadership will never achieve at the highest levels.
