I'd say no cuff. They are normally pricier and look stupid IMO.Seriously. Buy some flat front plain well fitting pants and some decent well fitting oxford shirts. Then buy a medium sized watch (nothing big for gods sake)l and some round toe shoes that arnt fucking shiny. You are guaranteed to not look like an idiot. [Edited on May 30, 2013 at 9:39 AM. I'm going to say no cuff...but it's not quite as big a deal as the pleats.Traditionally...cuffs go with pleats. So no pleats...no cuffs. And cuffs are also traditionally with suits...so if it's just slack, then I'd also say no cuffs. It's a preference...but I prefer no cuffs.

yeah, wear something with a pattern or wear something matches your belt. i'd shy away from dark solid colors with those unless your treatment made them that much darker.

I love all my merrrel shoes. So comfy.

just depends on what you feel comfortable in. Height-wise i'm between a 32 and 34L and own both. What's currently in fashion, to go along with slimmer fits, are lengths that don't offer a lot of break. I think this looks really good with a slim cut pair of slacks, but it also looks great in dark denim with a low profile shoe or boot. And don't be scared to cuff. I'm not talking 1950's 4-inch roll up, but a single flip of the hem .5-1" looks good with certain color/shoe combinations. I do this with a pair of my 34L to cut down on the excess break.I used to hate when my ankles would show, but that was back when boot cut, wider leg, looser fits, and longer lengths were in fashion. I just threw out 4-5 pairs of jeans like this. After trying them on it's amazing how outdated and unflattering they looked. ]

there is nothing wrong with slightly boot cut jeans as long as they are slim fit...however...dress pants should definitely be slim and straightloose fit pants aren't flattering on anyone

fun socks ftw. I used to mix in solid black with my patterned socks but for awhile now I've exclusively been wearing patterned socks. Basically white socks when I work out or around the house and patterned socks everywhere else (either at work or dressed to go out). At work, my socks always complement or contrast my shirt for the most part since I wear varying shades of grey. Outside of work it's the same if I am wearing jeans. If I am wearing colored chinos then I take those into consideration as well.I have slightly boot cuts on the jeans I wear on-site when I have to wear my steel toes. All my other pants are straight and slim[Edited on November 13, 2013 at 9:34 AM. Reason : ]

where do you get your socks? That's next on my list of things to toss out and replace.

Can I get a ruling on a grey or black jacket with brown shoes [and jeans]?
11/13/2013 10:29:15 AM
that's fine
11/13/2013 10:41:21 AM
definitely fine. Grey goes nicely with brown.
11/13/2013 10:52:12 AM
^,^^ - Even a black jacket and brown shoes? Does the shade/darkness of the jeans play into it at all?
11/13/2013 11:06:46 AM
Count me as another person in favor of "fun socks". They don't have to be anything really wild necessarily...but I just don't like wearing plain black or brown socks. I like argyle, striped socks, even solid color but something fun (yellow or blue are two I like). Really pretty much anything that's not plain brown or black. I wear khaki colored pants and brown loafers usually, so it's a little easier for me to get by wearing brightly colored socks than if I was in darker slacks and darker shoes.[Edited on November 13, 2013 at 11:13 AM. i've got all kinds, but i need an overhaul. most have started loosing their elastic band and don't stay up. and my heavier winter/hiking socks are all getting worn out.
11/13/2013 11:27:55 AM
^^^you shouldn't be wearing anything but darker wash jeans do you want me to come over and tell you if it looks good together

Yeah I have a problem with some of my socks falling down and not staying up. Specifically I'm thinking of Chaps socks I have. The elastic must just be worn out or something.
