Stories like this make me sad but at the same time very grateful. I have done way worse walks like walking drunk through the streets of ghetto NOLA and sleeping on the side of the road blackout. Think stuff like this makes you realize how dumb you really were

I bet she feels so bad. I bet she started a argument over some dumb psycho female bullshit.

When I was driving to work yesterday (on 40E), I was wondering why there was so many cops and CCB officers on the side of 40W. Creeeeepy!!! This is really sad. I wonder what really happened. [Edited on August 14, 2013 at 7:45 AM. Reason : ,]

I feel like a drunk driver that hit him. Maybe one of those soy bean trucks hit him and didn't know it...
8/14/2013 7:51:05 AM
Yeah I was driving on that area of 40 right at 4 oclock when all the cops had just arrived. Thought it was strange to see that many for what didnt appear like any sort of major wreck or anything. I do think I saw a car sitting there with a fucked up front end though but I was driving by pretty fast.
8/14/2013 8:25:47 AM
I've walked from downtown to near Crossroads once (to apts I used to live at), but I think I was "sober" enough to walk a generally safer route that what that guy chose.

middle of downtown to cameron village is usually around 8 buckazoids also.i've walked from my old apartment at kensington to the office to get my car after halloween a few years ago which was about 3.5 miles. it wasn't a fun walk and it was actually pretty dangerous at times. if this kid was wasted and walking along main roads or highways, all it would take for him is one stumble to get waxed by a car. considering he was under emotional duress and probably drank increasingly large amounts of alcohol afterwards, it was a setup for disaster.
8/14/2013 10:21:04 AM
i don't take cabs often, so correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't cabs usually about $4, plus about $2 per mile? Based on that, a cab ride from raleigh to apex would have been about $36. Definitely not worth dying over, but sober hindsight is 20/20.And as someone else mentioned, don't we all know a friend that has got black-out drunk and wandered off on a few occasions?
8/14/2013 10:33:23 AM
Okay guise, I'm tired of seeing y'all fight and argue, so I called a cab company and was quoted $65 from the Oxford to Apex
8/14/2013 10:35:37 AM
If he took a bunch of shots before leaving the bar there is a good chance he got progressively more drunk and disoriented for the next hour, presumably too drunk to call a taxi or his friends for a ride or to tell directions.
8/14/2013 11:16:30 AM
presumably, yes
8/14/2013 11:20:43 AM
If he was arguing with someone at 1:30, and then passed out in a bush in front of Memorial Auditorium soon thereafter, then he probably did go back inside and drink more before the bars closed. If he was already that drunk when he was arguing with his girlfriend then yeah the girlfriend's gonna feel even worse about leaving him.I live off Trailwood now and the cab ride is usually between $15-$20. I doubt if I was drunk or sober I'd be willing to pay $65 for a cab ride to Apex. Wonder if he was gonna stay at someone's place who lived in Raleigh, but then when his girlfriend left he just said screw it and started his blackout walk home. Can they determine BAC on a body that's been on the side of the road for 3 days?

I think he just wanted to get in his low intensity cardio after drinking diet coke & whiskeysRIP GIRLFRIEND (I guess it's actually RIP BOYFRIEND now)
8/14/2013 11:49:25 AM
i have done some stupid shit in the past, but always found a cab and got to where i needed to go. 40-50 dollars pales in comparison to this, and its pretty fucked up to do this to your loved ones over some stupid argument with a girlfriend.
8/14/2013 11:56:59 AM
You shouldn't go out if you can't afford a cab. There are a million bars in apex./threadI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
8/14/2013 12:05:00 PM
I cant talk shit about the guy for getting so drunk he was self destructive, I have been guilty of that on multiple occasions. I will say on pretty much every occasion my friends or SO got me back to the house safely. That is pretty fucked up everyone he was with abandoned him.
8/14/2013 12:05:52 PM
I dunno, sounds like he got completely shit faced every time he went out. Maybe they were fed up with his alcoholism? Of course, a better plan of action would be not to go out with him at all. Water under the bridge now, though.
8/14/2013 12:08:48 PM
8/14/2013 12:10:38 PM
How about it is better for a driver (assuming he/she was drunk) to go home and sober up, then turn themselves in... than it would be for them to call 911 right away and get caught inebriated
8/14/2013 12:17:09 PM
Are you asking if a murder charge is better than a hit and run charge?I'm Krallum and I approved this message.
8/14/2013 12:19:43 PM
The hit and run is an automatic felony if there are injuries.

Reports say he was walking home to Apex, but his body was found between Hammond and S. Saunders? That's not exactly on the way from DTR to Apex.
8/15/2013 11:40:45 PM
sure it is
8/16/2013 7:53:26 AM
If he was drunk enough to walk on the goddamn interstate in the middle of the night from Raleigh to Apex, he probably wasn't thinking clearly enough to take the most direct route.
8/16/2013 7:58:51 AM
it seems to me that he was walking as you might drive
8/16/2013 8:02:54 AM
This is why walking along the interstate is not legal.
8/16/2013 9:20:27 AM
The farthest I have ever walked blacked out was from Trailwood Valley to Kaplan, & from Ruckus to Kaplan. I came to remembering about halfway back from Trailwood Valley and remember thinking in my drunken state that I have a black suit on and I am walking in the dark, better watch for drunk drivers and stay on the sidewalk. I hope I was thinking that too while I was blacked out walking up Lineberry, Trailwood, and Thistledown. One walk home from Ruckus I do not remember at all, it was the night the canes won, I remember trading my keys to the bartender for the last few shots. I am not sure the route I took home but somehow got muddy...which makes no sense because there is a sidewalk from the front door of ruckus that goes all the way to my house. ]
8/16/2013 11:35:27 AM
any new news on this? I mean I drove by yesterday and cops are still out there investigating. Sad he went that far flying. I think the person merging must have been hauling a!
8/18/2013 4:28:28 AM
Or they hit him and drug him over there to hide him.
8/18/2013 9:06:14 AM
maybe he was on top of the car and then fell
8/18/2013 9:08:39 AM
More likely, as skaterjaws said, someone was going fast, probably thought he hit a small animal (for all we know he could have been barfing or crawling) and kept going.

So if you hit something, you have to pull over to check to see what it was?If I'm in my lane, I'd probably just wonder what it was, be glad I was okay, and keep driving--animals and stuff pop out all the time.
