I didnt judge you, just gave you facts, and a suggestion. What other pregnant women do has ZERO effect on your baby. So, it is pointless to look at a pregnant woman smoking and say, "at least I am not doing that". Her actions, 0 effect on your baby, your actions, 100% effect on your baby.Just for your information, more and more studies are showing that the more sugar a pregnant woman eats, the more likely her children are as adults to be inexplicably addicted to sugar and/or to be overweight. Same thing with junk/fast food.Take it or leave it, AND, just because I posted the bit above about the studies does NOT mean that I am implying that you eat sugary things or junk/fast food regularly. It is advice for everybody.

you think it has to do with a candida albicans imbalance from the onset?

I don't remember the mechanism, but I think I remember it saying something about priming the genes which have an effect on brain centers which control desire, inhibition, self-control, etc.

Well, dont you worry your pretty little head. My typical day consists of approximately 100-120 grams of carbs and most of them from fruits and veggies. My carb intake was set by my doctor. About once a week I splurge on an ice dream from chick fil a or a really carby fast food meal. This week I chose a cherry limeade instead. A very large one that I milked from 5pm to about 10pm.

0EPII1 is the worst. someone should make a thread about it.

1/17/2014 10:36:32 AM
2x 12oz cans of plain seltzer1 pint chicken broth
1/17/2014 10:36:40 AM
Greenjay, it sucked ass. B vitamins helped. I tried not to take meds. Wore dark sun glasses. I think I drank Gatorade some.
1/17/2014 10:56:14 AM
gatorade helped me kicking the soda habit as well, whenever I desperately wanted a soda, I made myself drink gatorade insteadeverytime, no exceptions... it was hard for at least a week
1/17/2014 10:59:01 AM
I have two liters in now! Made sure to get it in pre nap so I dont fuck up like yesterday.
1/17/2014 11:04:41 AM
^^ I, too, had a bad soda habit. I started with gatorade and then realized it was fucking up my sugar intake so I dropped it too.I'm a solid 6-8 17oz water bottles a day now. It was boring at first but now I've adjusted and just crave water.
1/17/2014 11:52:38 AM
yea, you should definitely not develop a gatorade habit either, it was a nicer transition though than going cold turkey
1/17/2014 11:56:54 AM
I like plain seltzer instead of soda now. Same bite and cut but no shit aftertaste, calories, or tooth rot. I also drink it instead of beer quite a bit.
1/17/2014 12:17:49 PM
^Yes! This stuff is so good: My favorite is the coconut flavor. Gatorade is just as bad as soda as far as sugar goes. Same thing with juice. They all contain similar amounts of sugar and shouldn't be consumed on a regular basis.
1/17/2014 12:21:22 PM
Wouldn't soda water also erode teeth? It is acidic, after all.
1/17/2014 12:23:19 PM
I dont drink a lot of Gatorade now, although I have had some this week because I was told to by my doctor. I used it to help with my caffeine headaches I got when I gave up caffeine a while ago. It was very helpful. And I never drank a ton. Shit gives me heartburn .
1/17/2014 12:24:04 PM
No it's hardly acidic at all. Carbon dioxide dissolved in water is carbonic acid and is a very weak acid. A lot of foods you eat are slightly acidic. It's similar to orange or apple juice. The harm in soda like Coke is the sugar combined with the carbonation. Carbonated water is a great alternative to sugared soda.
1/17/2014 12:27:22 PM
Yeah, I know it is a weak acid. I guess even oranges are more acidic. But, it can't be good for those who drink a ton of it all day, everyday. Your teeth are coming in contact all the time, unless you drink with a straw. Of course, drinking orange juice all day would be bad as well, from the acidity point of view. For soda, they also add phosphoric acid. pH values can easily be googled, so I guess I will do it now.
1/17/2014 12:31:22 PM
Yeah I mean anything that's acidic will eat away at your enamel but carbonated water is still a better alternative than soda with the sugar. Plus I doubt it would have much of an effect if you only drank 1-2 cans a day.
1/17/2014 12:33:49 PM
Just checked. Soda water is between 3 and 4. Pepsi/Coke is 2.5. Orange is 3.Scroll down to "health effects" here, it talks about a study on erosive capacity of soda water:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbonated_waterOf course, 1-2 cans is ok, but I was talking about people who might be getting most of their daily fluids from it.
1/17/2014 12:39:45 PM
carbonated drinks make me fart
1/17/2014 12:41:55 PM
1/17/2014 12:48:51 PM
i've seen the fancy health food store selling alkalizing pitchers. I've also seen indications to put baking soda in drinking water, but boo to added sodium. plus, will it foam up in my mouth if i rinse after drinking soda?
1/17/2014 12:52:55 PM
^^ thanks.
1/17/2014 12:54:38 PM
I mean San Pellegrino is more basic than water. That surprises me as it still tastes pretty acidic. I guess it's what minerals they add into it.
1/17/2014 12:59:38 PM
Yeah, I am surprised by that as well.
1/17/2014 1:02:34 PM
I believe adding calcium raises the PH (more basic) but I may be wrong. You still get the sparkling water taste without the acidity.
1/17/2014 1:08:11 PM
For what it's worth, this is what the wiki page says:
1/17/2014 1:10:42 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_PellegrinoBingo it's got lots of salts in it.
1/17/2014 1:14:04 PM
Woke up 4 hours later than usual. Gonna have to really try to get it all in today.
1/18/2014 9:59:17 AM
just finished my 7th liter.
1/20/2014 10:03:18 PM
Holy crap! My 4 liters a day is nauseating sometimes.
1/20/2014 10:10:13 PM
7 liters is cray cray. I promise you'll never get kidney stones with the kind of output that creates. Wow. If you had to do a 24 urine collection, you'd have to get an extra jug.
1/20/2014 10:17:33 PM
So much water. Ugh. 3 liters and counting right now.
1/21/2014 5:20:32 PM
I woke up feeling fairly dehydrated, so trying to drink all the water today. 20 oz. water and ~8 oz. coffee so far
1/27/2014 6:34:33 AM
I, too, am feeling dehydrated. Mini fridge full of water in the bedroom ftw.
