This type of thing traditionally happens in cycles. Things will start to slowly improve, but the harsh reality is that even out kids are going to be feeling the effects of today's economy.

what field are you working in btw? given that you've been thinking about your job security, do you have anything planned to secure your current position?

I only ask because I know we just won a huge contract that will last at least 4 years, so I'm good there. On top of that, my manager traditionally keeps our department small (slim), so that we're always overworked. the good think about that is that we're the last jobs to get cut seeing how we're always needed/busy

I would just take a week to decide. In general, companies are pretty respectful of you taking the time to carefully decide whether or not you want the job. If they ask why you are taking a week to decide, be truthful and say that there is another job offer out there for me. Who know? That might be an incentive for them to offer you more $$

That's an interesting question. I'm assuming that if I'm fighting to the death, that I'm not trying to die myself. So I would probably pick someone that I know I could win against. So I would probably fight 0EPII1. Not because I particularly dislike this individual....but I know he's a pansy, and it would be a pretty easy win.

Haha, just one? Man, I would probably hang out with my old buddy jackleg again. I haven't see him in a while. We have good chemistry together (I can't remember a single time we've been in an argument). Funny and smart guy. We could catch up with each other....
