How about the premeditation of his crime? The fact that he willfully and knowingly headed up this operation for years and years? Thats a bit different than somebody who decides to be a complete dumbass for one night, drive drunk, and kills a person. Obviously murder in the 1st degree has a harsher penalty than 2nd degree manslaughter, because of intent and premeditation. Like I said earlier in the thread, most people continue to ignore that and instead look at the extremely narrow view of "a human life is more valuable than a dog's life, thats what i'll base my opinion on, regardless of all the other circumstances"Also I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Stalworth is suspended from the league for a year or two, despite already settling with the victim's family out of court. Are people gonna be complaining about that when it happens? His civil suit has been settled, therefore he "paid his debt to society" too, right? But he's gonna miss at least a season if not more. I'll expect identical outrage.[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 12:55 PM. Reason : .]

I am more focusing my point on those athletes that abuse women, not those that have a "crazy night" and drink too much. Without fail, every season you hear about domestic violence charges against several pro athletes, but yet they still take the field every Sunday. Are we saying that it's ok to beat your wife, but if you beat a dog you are banned from he NFL for life?[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 12:55 PM. Reason : a]

We're clearly not saying you're banned from the NFL for life since Vick is already back in the league. The difference in beating your wife and beating your dog is that your dog doesn't have the ability to choose to leave you. Oh yeah, minor detail, he didn't beat dogs, he strangled them to death, drowned them to death, electrocuted them to death, because they didn't fight as violently as he wanted them to. Sounds like a winner.and as a sidenote since I don't know if this has been mentioned in THIS thread, the large majority of his prison sentence wasn't specifically for dog fighting, it was for illegal gambling and not paying taxes on that money...the dog fighting aspect is what tugs at peoples heart strings, but the biggest penalties in his sentencing were for for tax evasion[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 12:58 PM. Again, i don't condone the crime nor do I defend it. As I said earlier, the dude is a piece of shit. But if the argument is trying to be made against his reinstatement, then it is a hypocritical one. Like you said, he was already reinstated so the point is pretty much moot. But from what I gather, the whole point of this thread is that people feel he shouldn't have been reinstated. I am simply arguing that his reinstatement was just, especially considering the criminal records of many players currently on NFL rosters. Not to mention those that were able to buy themselves out of their crimes and were never convicted.
7/28/2009 1:00:32 PM
Well I don't disagree with any of thatThe main points I'm trying to make are:- just because a human life is more valuable than a dog life doesn't mean there aren't other factors that in many respects make his dogfighting operation worse than say, killing a person one night accidentally- I've hated dude since he always beat the Panthers- Nobody has the RIGHT to play in the NFL. Its a private corporation. Its a privilege to play in the NFL. If Goodelle wanted to suspend him for a whole season, he has the right to do that. He has the right to work if someone wants to hire him. And like I said earlier, he quit his construction job after less than a week. So for the people saying HE DESERVES TO WORK, somebody gave him a job, and he quit it. Forgive me for not having any sympathy for him. I wish I was once worth $50 million and was fucking stupid enough to throw it all away.- Doesn't matter much, he's reinstated, lets worry more about how he's a QB who can't accurately throw the football]

in all honesty, I just want to see which idiot in my Fantasy league drafts this motherfuckerbecause I know it will happenand i really hope he goes to the Skins because I hate the Skins, and I would love all the negative attention they would get[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 1:06 PM. Reason : a]

As an Eagles fan, I'm not sure if I should be happy or upset.I will make my decision when I find out what his 2 year deal is worth.
8/13/2009 9:07:22 PM
it better be the $250k/yr league minimum and not a penny more ]
8/13/2009 9:08:56 PM
Nah, I guarantee it's more than that. But as long as we got him relatively cheap, then I will be ok with it.
8/13/2009 9:09:53 PM
1.6mil the 1st year with 5.2mil option the 2nd yearfucking dog killer
8/13/2009 9:17:23 PM

8/13/2009 9:21:49 PM

8/13/2009 9:22:33 PM
i HATE dog killers i HATE wife beaters but i LOVE sportsand i LOVE not being an eagles fan
8/13/2009 9:22:46 PM
^^^it scrolled across the bottom of the screen on ESPN, we're watching the Steelers game^^McNabb isn't being replaced. Vick is going on the bench.....until McNabb injures himself in Game 2 or 3 (as per the norm). at which point, Vick is in ]
8/13/2009 9:24:30 PM
What makes everyone think he will be a QB?
8/13/2009 9:26:21 PM
He'll be a Tight End. I mean, he has spent time in prison.
8/13/2009 9:28:04 PM
i, too, watch TMZ
8/13/2009 9:29:48 PM
hahah did they say that on TMZ? i mean, it's an obvious joke to make. i didn't even know TMZ had a TV channel
8/13/2009 9:30:51 PM
any man too stupid to pay off his friends to do a prison bid is too stupid to run an NFL offense.
8/13/2009 9:31:53 PM
Vick actually said it himself. He was at the airport and they asked him what position he would play, and he said Tight End
8/13/2009 9:31:59 PM
well then, Vick is a funny guy! i still don't think he deserves all that green and i'm actually kinda ticked RG even let him come back
8/13/2009 9:34:40 PM
8/13/2009 9:34:53 PM

8/13/2009 9:38:46 PM
I am totally going to buy a Vick Eagles jersey now. It will look great hanging in my closet next to my T.O. jersey.
8/13/2009 9:40:15 PM
sweet, did his time now he gets a deserved second chance
8/13/2009 9:40:40 PM
I want a Ron Mexico Eagles Jersey.Considering how much of an attitude that Vick showed towards disconcerted fans in Atlanta, I'm really interested to see how this plays out with a fanbase as rabid as Philly has.
8/13/2009 9:46:19 PM
at least it wasn't the Browns
8/13/2009 10:03:04 PM
Philly is going to hate any black QB they have.Might as well have a good reason this time!
8/13/2009 10:17:43 PM
if he's done prison time, shouldn't he be a WR rather than a TE?but that reminds me, I need to pick up a Koren Robinson jersey as I bike home by the Seahawks shop at Qwest field tomorrow
8/14/2009 12:05:11 AM
hopefully he does really well and then they cut him and the panthers get him
8/14/2009 12:06:46 AM
tard
8/14/2009 12:12:16 AM
fuck the naggers man. i'm not gonna wish any ill will on the guy. if donavan(sp?) got hurt i'd rather him come in and throw for 4000 yards than to do crappy
8/14/2009 12:13:37 AM
he hasnt won anything yet, mcnabb already extended his contract. mike vick aint done shit
8/14/2009 12:15:01 AM
thats the point i hope he does some shit
8/14/2009 12:15:24 AM
8/14/2009 1:03:34 AM
are you seriously trying to discuss something with DNL?
8/14/2009 1:42:09 AM
But he cried at night while he was in prison.COME ON GUYZ
8/14/2009 1:58:48 AM
cried from teh butthurt, i'm sure.anyhow, whatever. he commited the crime, served the time, and paid the fine. nothing left to see here folks, move along now. back to work for everyone.y'see, this is Amurrca, dammit, and once someone serves their sentence they're free. businesses are also free to hire whomever they like. so... cry more, please.

Thank heaven for little dogs / For little dogs get bigger every day!
8/14/2009 5:14:51 AM
I think my favorite part of this thread is all of the "not that i agree with dogfighting" comments at the end of the posts.I mean come on, dogfighting isn't that harmful to the dogs. They almost never get hurt.not that i condone what he did.
8/14/2009 8:07:08 AM
It was wrong, JB.
8/14/2009 8:16:45 AM
8/14/2009 8:28:34 AM
black people can hate too
8/14/2009 8:41:54 AM
yeah, but my point is that the Philly fans that hate McNabb don't hate him because he's black. They hate him because he gets hurt every year and is arguably past his prime.
8/14/2009 9:04:51 AM
No they hate him because they hate everyone, except for the Phillies last year and the 76ers in 83 or whenever cause they actually won championships
8/14/2009 9:05:53 AM
they booed motherfucking santa claus, man
8/14/2009 9:07:03 AM
^^ lol, yeah i guess that's true. but my point still stands that it's not a race issue
8/14/2009 9:08:49 AM
going to make my post on the next page
