seems there is a problem with water every year

can you wear a camel bak and just take your water with you? or have a friend at a certain spot with a water bottle? sucks that the water issue causes problems for people

You could just carry a water bottle too.

I may do this at some point, but it's going to take a lot of motivation to drive to Raleigh to ingest those donuts.

The only problem is that you can't really tell who did the doughnuts and who didn't, so it's hard to compare times. A friend of mine finished in 48 minutes and ate all 12, and another friend finished right behind him and didn't eat any.

Maybe the official results, which come out tomorrow, will have that info.

If all 6,000 runners meet the consumption challenge, 72,000 doughnuts will go down the hatch. That's a veritable mountain of Krispy Kremes to run up, then down. But there are more precise ways to quantify that amount:

The weight of 72,000 doughnuts is one-third of a ton.

A stack of 72,000 doughnuts would stand about 7,500 feet tall - nearly three times higher than the tallest skyscraper on Earth, the 2,717-foot Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Eating 12 doughnuts will get you 144 grams of fat, 120 grams of sugar, 1,140 milligrams of sodium, and 2,400 calories.

For a field of 6,000, that comes to 14.4 million total calories - the equivalent of enough energy to power a 60-watt light bulb for 31.8 years (or the average U.S. home for more than nine years).

If you stacked the boxes for those 72,000 doughnuts, it would be 300 stories high, more than double the Empire State Building.

Last year I grabbed one of the whole gallons of water they had beneath the table.

I filled two cups with water and broke the first two doughnuts in half, dunked each in the water to get the glaze off, and then consumed them.

Now with space in the KK box, I dumped most of the gallon of water in the box and made a slurry which was easier to get down.

I didn't run it this year.

Bullshit. Puking is more of a challenge because if you spend time puking you delay finishing. I'm petitioning for a new category next year, Challenger Plus: you finish only after puking up all twelve.

I think it means they didn't go through the special lane for challengers where you showed your empty box

So I did some googling, and I think the women's winner is a Dr. of Opthamology working at Duke who got her medical degree at Harvard. That girl must be really hard to keep up with in life.
