6/21/2010 2:34:29 PM
If you want to talk about hockey then go make a thread about it.
6/21/2010 2:35:09 PM
i don't really want to talk about hockeyi just want to talk about how lame and boring football is
6/21/2010 2:35:56 PM
and you enjoy what sport?
6/21/2010 2:36:27 PM
imagine how hard the hits would be in hockey if the players were 300 pounds like in football and if you didnt have the minimal friction of ice to dissipate a lot of the impact, like in football]
6/21/2010 2:36:59 PM
every four years, this is the new bbq or tipping thread
6/21/2010 2:37:09 PM
Right...anyway
6/21/2010 2:37:11 PM
I don't try to debate hockey vs football, both are rough ass sports to play.
6/21/2010 2:38:22 PM
6/21/2010 2:38:31 PM
imagine how hard the hits would be in football if the field were surrounded by a fucking ten foot wall
6/21/2010 2:38:53 PM
^you mean arena league football?]
6/21/2010 2:39:29 PM
don't worry soon Hockey will have NASCAR type walls
6/21/2010 2:39:33 PM
that's a three foot padded wallten foot solid wall, plz
6/21/2010 2:40:22 PM
Oh boy, a wall!A wall that bends and absorbs all the impact, leaving the player unscathed
6/21/2010 2:40:29 PM
6/21/2010 2:41:00 PM
in hockey when you get hit its all like "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" as you slide across the icein football when you get hit its all like "oh shit my foot was planted, damn i just felt my PCL tear"
6/21/2010 2:42:30 PM

The Top Ten Reasons to Hate Soccer: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/164778-the-top-ten-reasons-to-hate-soccer#page/110. They count backwardsSoccer is 90 minutes long and is split into two 45-minute halves. But, instead of counting down from 45 minutes every half, they count up from 0 to 45 and then from 45 to 90 in the second half. This requires fans to do math to find out how much time until halftime or the end of the game. And doing math is one thing that we hated doing the most.9. Not Enough ContactThe Greatest thing that I have ever witnessed in a soccer game and he got tossed for it. This a sport that penalizes people for barely touching the opponent and encourages players to take more dives then Michael Phelps. 8. Four Sports is EnoughAmerica is already completely saturated with sports. It is hard enough to support NHL, NBA, MLB and NFL teams. There is simply not enough money to go around and since we have been bred to eating, drink and sleep baseball and football since birth. I could not even fathom going to a soccer game and supporting a team.7. You Can't Screw Up in SoccerOne of things that make the American sports the best is that in a single moment world-class athletes can be reduced to nothing. There is a kind of pressure that the Big 4 sports have that soccer does not.The pressure that if you screw up, just one time, it could haunt you the rest of your life.In soccer a player can go an entire game without touching the ball (with the exception of the goalie) and look like he did his job.6. ScheduleWith national teams and other circumstances teams can go without playing a regular season game for almost a month at some points. This makes it impossible to build loyalty in an MLS market5. Two-Hour GamesEvery time a soccer fan tries to convince me to be a fan brings up this fact for some reason and it doesn't make sense to me.My greatest sports memories are watching 12 inning, 4 hour baseball games or sitting on the edge of my seat during triple-overtime hockey or basketball games. The fact that these games can go on forever is somewhat romantic to me. Sports are something that you can plan your schedule around.4. HockeyWhile there are a lot of differences between hockey and soccer, the basic objectives and rules are similar. But hockey is faster, hard-hitting, action packed, in a much smaller field of play and has more scoring chances then soccer.3. We already have footballThe main reason that you should hate International football is because it is worse in every respect in comparison to American football. There is contact in the NFL. Games can be high scoring. There is action in every single play. And most importantly both teams can score on any single play.2. TiesThe thing I hate most about the NFL is that ties can still occur. Why bother playin if your not going to find out who is the better team. The fact that there are quiet a few ties and sometimes barely even overtime in soccer is the most frustration thing about the game.1. It's boringThis is far in away the number 1 reason I hate soccer. It takes too long to create a scoring chance and games often don't have any scoring at all.Why would anyone want to give up two-hours of their life and see nothing in return.

arena football walls are paddedand they all wear facial protection and a great deal wear neck supportsmy point about the glass is that many arenas have seamless glass, which doesn't give--i like how that list criticizes games with a lack of scoring, but then celebrates 12-inning baseball games and triple-overtime hockey games, both situations where there is no scoring for long periods of time ]
6/21/2010 2:55:36 PM
^^ lol that article is so bad.
6/21/2010 2:58:12 PM
6/21/2010 2:58:23 PM
haha I know
6/21/2010 2:58:41 PM
You could apply most of that list to Baseball.Baseball sucks too
6/21/2010 3:01:23 PM
lots of people ITT must've failed physics if they don't understand how a lot more energy is absorbed in a football hit on grass or turf, compared to a hit in hockey when you're on skates on ice

Someone screws up a soccer game almost as much as the game doesn't end in a 0 - 0 tieoh wait[Edited on June 21, 2010 at 3:06 PM. Reason : 0 - 0]
6/21/2010 3:06:15 PM
Defensive errors happen all the time, you have no idea what you're talking about. And there have been a lot of 0 - 0 games that have been thrilling, especially during this world cup.
6/21/2010 3:08:06 PM
People who have watched 10 minutes of soccer arguing about soccer ITT
6/21/2010 3:09:12 PM
btt for the yellow card just dished out in the spain vs honduras game
6/21/2010 3:09:38 PM
^^thats because 10 minutes was all they could watch.
6/21/2010 3:10:40 PM
so what happens when you're hit perpendicular to your edges and the skates dig in far more than cleats do on turf
6/21/2010 3:11:09 PM
hockey is the toughest sport in the world - hands down, not even a contest.
6/21/2010 3:11:51 PM
^uh, no, rugby is tougher than hockey
6/21/2010 3:13:00 PM
Any other sport the fans would laugh at the guy his teammates would make fun of him for the rest of his career for acting like a pussy
skates dig in ice further than metal cleats do in dirt? hmmmmm
6/21/2010 3:16:29 PM
not deeper, but there's more resistance because the edge is biased against the direction of the forceplus, ice is harder than turf which makes the bite even more effectivealso, consider that this is a roundabout response to the silly friction argument ]
