I'd take 9 mil + Dempsey for Carroll. I'd value Dempsey around 7.5-10 so that's not a terrible price for Carroll.

Let me clarify. I would not sell Carroll unless I got a silly offer from somebody. I'm just saying that if he wants to sell him, roughly 17-20 mil is not a bad price. I don't see why Borini for Carroll is such a pressing issue for the squad. How about dumping Downing and Adam first?

Spurs could afford him with Modric's proceeds and clearing out the wages of some dead weight (Defoe, dos Santos, etc) but I can't imagine he'd agree to go anywhere but the top clubs (Real, Barca, Man's and Chelsea at the moment).

** Arsenals board has no balls but I'd love to see them tell RVP to suck it up and not sell. If they are only getting £10-15M for him he needs to be kept. Don't think Dempsey to Liverpool is a great move for him. I don't see Liverpool contending for a top 4 spot anytime soon so the odds of him getting to play in the UCL are slim. It's good for USA soccer and Liverpool, but not the most ideal move for Clint IMO.

Watched the second half of the Man U - Ajax CT friendly.

The kits don't look as bad on tv as they do in the ads.

Kagawa looked all right and should have had a goal from a header inside the box after a nice chip from Chicharito. Powell came in around the 70 minute mark and looked really good. Made a nice move around a defender to get out of a corner and played a good one-two and hitting a strong strike on target. The Ajax CT goal was off a corner and the player did a great job gettin his heel on the ball and putting past the back post where a defender likely should have been. Bebe had a great first touch and volley inside the box to equalize in extra time.

Admittedly I didn't watch all that much of Swansea last season but of what little I've seen and what I've been reading, Joe Allen is going to be a damn good player. He was supposedly GB's man of the match against Brazil the other day. Here's some interesting stats.

I'm okay with paying a little more for young players like Allen, Henderson and Carroll (I still think both will be good Liverpool players) than players clearly at the back end of their careers like Adam and Downing. I'm also looking forward to seeing a team play with a consistent style and game plan so if buying "mediocre" players like Borini and Allen accomplish that, then whatever.
