while i was pissed at leslie's attitude sometimes this year, more often than not wishing he would just shake off a no-call and hustle down court to play defense, there were some inconsistent calls on each end that he didnt get the benefit of...the guy is passionate and energetic, sometimes he gets 2 bullshit technicals over the course of a whole season, and i commented in one of the game threads that Gott shouldve stepped in and cussed out a ref before Leslie had to

i didnt even really care about Wood talking shit during a 4-point play or Warren making a freshman mistake

i just think its a stupid and petty argument to try and use 5 technical fouls during the season as a reason we didn't live up to overinflated preseason hype

sounds like an argument somebody would make right after we got left out of the NCAA tournament field...WHICH WE DIDNT

that's not what i said at all.

we're an undisciplined team. we got more techs this season than most teams. we underachieved this year. those are all true statements. technical fouls aren't the reason we had a bad regular season, a lack of discipline was. that also might be the reason that we got more technical fouls than most teams this year. seems related.

it's important that you realize the difference between these statements, as it is quite literally very basic logic. and i'm not trying to be an asshole here, but it is incredibly frustrating to argue w/ someone that misrepresents such very simple statements.

i think we had a 'bad season' because a lot of idiots had sky high expectations and thought the ACC would be a cakewalk and that we'd beat teams like Michigan and OSU.

and as for why we lost more games than we 'should have' ?

we got fucked by transfers, had our PG out during the middle of the ACC schedule, and CJ Leslie had a few bad games that contributed to poor team chemistry.

simonn, we went 24-10...realistically, if Brown wasn't injured and we had won 2 of the 3 games he missed, we could've gone 26-9, and gotten a 1st round bye...maybe even gone to the ACC finals and done better than 26-9

that wouldnt have been too bad, probably wouldve been a 6-7 seed

I watched pretty much every game this season. It's kind of pathetic actually how much this season interfered with my life

we were never on the bubble. we were ranked in the top 25 for about half the season, and our RPI/BPI was never really concerning.

^ we were 5-5 in the acc and nowhere near the top 25 the first week in february. shit, the next two games were a last second win @clemson and an overtime win vs. virginia tech. we could have easily lost both of those, then we beat fsu and and lose @unc, we're 6-8 in the league in the last week in february.

so in early february i didn't feel safe at all. and it's not like i didn't hear national shows talking about us maybe missing the tournament, and really that is the definition of the bubble.

we barely improved over last year. given the nature of college basketball, returning what we returned from a team that played as well as it did we should have improved by a lot more than two nice home wins.

at the time the maryland game was hard to swallow (AGAIN, NOT LITERALLY). so was miami during the season.

not heartbreaking, but very upsetting, was the michigan game. you know, that road game against a top 5 team that was a 4 point game and our ball, and then leslie swung an elbow and gave the ball away? do you remember that TreeTwista10? b/c i remember that.

Fran Dumphy is a very good coach, so i expect a close one. hopefully the team has gone to Players Retreat, bonded, gone to Jimmy V's grave, and channelled the spirit of Lorenzo Charles for this tournament. we shall see.
